Bucs aim to continue their progression against strong competition
AUBURN, Ala. (April 17, 2014) – The ETSU track & field program will continue the outdoor season with a visit to Auburn University to compete in the War Eagle Invitational, Friday – Saturday, at Hutsell-Rosen Track.
ETSU will be competing against 17 other schools in its first appearance at the War Eagle Invitational in more than 10 years.
The Bucs will return to action after competing in two separate events last weekend. At the Tennessee Relays presented by Sea Ray at the University of Tennessee on Friday and Saturday, the Blue & Gold notched five top-five finishes. Highlighted among these strong performances were solid relay showings by the men including a runner-up finish in the 4x800 meter and a third-place finish in the distance medley. Meanwhile, on Saturday at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic at Western Carolina University, ETSU posted strong performances in the field. On the women’s side, Tyesha Jones (Nashville, Tenn.) placed in the top-five in both the discus and hammer throws, while for the men, Justin Grant (Johnson City, Tenn.) tallied a runner-up finish in the discus throw.
Action at the War Eagle Invitational will begin on Friday with the men’s hammer throw at 2 p.m. and will conclude for the day with the men’s 5,000 meter run at 8.
Competition will pick back up on Saturday with the women’s pole vault at 11 a.m. Field events will continue throughout the afternoon before concluding with the women’s high jump at 2:30 p.m. Track events for the day will commence at noon with the women’s 4x100 meter relay and will wrap up with the men’s 4x400 meter relay at 6:35 p.m.
