Bucs will use invitational to assist in preparation for A-Sun Championships in two weeks

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (May 2, 2014) – The ETSU track & field program will wrap up the regular season on Saturday with its second visit to the University of Tennessee in less than a month to compete in the Tennessee Challenge at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.

After a successful weekend last week at the Highlander Invitational in Radford, Va., the Bucs will look to get in their final in-competition preparations on Saturday before the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships in two weeks.

In Radford, the Blue & Gold featured a number of solid performances including strong showings from upperclassmen and lowerclassmen, alike, as the entire program preps for the upcoming conference meet. Gaining ETSU’s lone wins at the Invite, junior Nicole Alexander (Rock Hill, S.C.) took the top spot in the 400 meter hurdles with a 1:04.04 time, while freshman Mike Williams (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) placed first in the same event on the men’s side with a 54.01 time.

On Saturday in Knoxville, action will get underway with the men’s and women’s hammer throw at 9 a.m., followed by running events beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the women's 3K steeplechase. Track competition will continue throughout the afternoon before action at the Challenge ends with the men’s 4x400 meter relay at 5:15 p.m.
