HIGH POINT, N.C. (April 4, 2015) – The ETSU track & field program wrapped up a busy weekend of competition with limited action Saturday at the seventh-annual HPU VertKlasse Meeting at Dick Vert Stadium.
After having three student-athletes compete Friday at the 2015 Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida while also having a small contingent engage in activities at High Point, the Bucs again had a limited group of competitors Saturday at the VertKlasse Meeting.
On the men’s side, the Blue & Gold had a number of solid performances. In the men’s 400-meter hurdle participation event, sophomore Sam Barton (Church Hill, Tenn.) turned in a ninth-place finish out of nearly 30 participants with a time of 57.485.
Sophomore Jacob Dunlap (Fulks Run, Va.) continued the momentum from yesterday’s top-15 mark of 13.62 in the shot put with successes today in both the discus and hammer. In the discus, Dunlap notched a 20th place finish in a field of competition featuring approximately 50 throwers with a 39.05-meter mark. In the hammer, the sophomore placed 10th out of approximately 30 competitors with a personal collegiate-best toss of 47.27 meters.
The ETSU track & field program again will be in action next weekend in split-squad competition at both the University of Tennessee Relays and the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic on the Western Carolina campus.
