A pair of top 10 finishes highlight day one of competition in 2016

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 8, 2016) – The ETSU men’s and women’s track and field squads opened the 2016 indoor season Friday afternoon at the David E. Walker Kickoff Classic inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletics Center on David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field. A pair of top 10 finishes in the long jump highlighted day one of the event for the Bucs.

The best finish for a Buc Friday was turned in by Benjamin Johnson (Nashville, Tenn.) who finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 7.27m. On the women’s side Timia Easley (Columbus, Ohio) finished eighth in the long jump after notching a distance of 5.63m.

While Johnson and Easley paced ETSU in the field events, senior Keuturah Williams (Alpharetta, Ga.) had the best result on the track with 14th place finish in the women’s 200m dash with a time of 25.71.

Day two of the event is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Men’s Shot Put. In total, there will be 22 events Saturday culminating at 3:20 p.m. with the Men’s 4x400 Meter Relay.
