RALEIGH,N.C. (March 25, 2016) – The ETSU Track and Field turned in a solid day one at the Raleigh Relays as junior Simeon Roberts (Greeneville, Tenn.), junior Matthew Warriner (Maryville, Tenn.) and senior Katie Hirko (Oley, Pa.) placed in the top 40 on Friday.
Starting out the day was sophomore Ashton Wilson (Gray, Tenn.) running a personal best time of 51.34 in the men's 400 meter run.
The Buccaneers had two place in the top 40 in the men's 1500-meter run as Roberts placed 31st with a time of 3:54.72. Right behind Roberts was fellow junior Warriner with a time of 3:56.31 to place 40th out of nearly 90 runners.
Senior Katie Hirko (Oley, Pa.) paced the ETSU women with a time of 4:37.10 in the 1500-meter run, finishing 43rd out of 108 runners.
Day two of the Raleigh Relays will begin tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the men's hammer throw final and the women's 10000-meter final.
The ETSU track and field squad is split up this weekend and will begin competition at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday with the first field event of women's javelin beginning at 10:30 a.m. The first track event at the Yellow Jacket Invitational begins at 12:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
