ETSU places eight in the top ten; five in the top five
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 15, 2016) –. After day one of the Benyon Sports Catamount Classic, the ETSU Track and Field program placed eight in the top ten and four in the top five as the men's team is in third while the women's team is in sixth.
In the women's high jump, the Buccaneers placed two in the top 10 as freshman Rebekah Fox (Franklin, Tenn.) tied a personal best mark of 1.57 meters to finish third. Sophomore Adrian Watkins (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished tenth with a mark of 1.47 meters. In the women's hammer throw senior Tyesha Jones (Nashville, Tenn.) placed 9th after hitting a mark of 38.60 meters
The Blue & Gold had three finish in the top 15 in the women's javelin as freshman Emily Williams (Mount Carmel, Tenn.) led the way with a mark of 29.03 meters to finish seventh out of 20 participants. Behind Williams in 12th was sophomore Marabeth Clark (Maryville, Tenn.) with a mark of 25.80 meters. Rounding out the trio was Watkins in 14th place with a mark of 24.41 meters.
Sophomore Timia Easley (Columbus, Ohio) rounded out the top five in the women's triple jump with a jump of 11.13 meters. In the women's high jump Fox recorded a personal best mark of 1.57 meters to place third out of 15 participants.
On the men's side in the hammer throw junior Jacob Dunlap (Fulks Run, Va.) finished seventh with a mark of 39.13 meters. In the high jump, freshman Jordan Scott (Friendsville, Tenn.) recorded a personal best mark of 2.03 meters to finished second.
Finishing the day in the men's 10000 meter run was freshman James Garst (Jonesborough, Tenn.) who finished second with a time of 32:34.01.
Day two of the meet begins tomorrow on the track at 12:15 p.m. with the women's 4x100m relay. Field events begin at 12:30 p.m. with the men's shot put.
