ATLANTA, Ga. (April 22, 2016) – On day one of the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., the ETSU Track and Field program had just 14 student-athletes competing in seven events with junior Simeon Roberts (Greeneville, Tenn.) leading the Buccaneers with a top five finish in the 1500 meter.
Roberts collected his fourth top ten finish and third top five finish of the outdoor season as he finished fifth in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:50.50. The mark was the fastest time Roberts has recorded this outdoor season.
In the field, junior Brett Squibbs (Rock Hill, S.C.) recorded his third top ten finish of the outdoor season, placing sixth with a mark of 4.90 meters.
On the women's side, senior Keturah Williams (Alpharetta, Ga.) came just .01 seconds from tying her fastest time this season in the women's 100 meter dash, placing 13th in the preliminaries with a mark of 12.01.
Rounding out the day was junior Matthew Moore (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) who ran a 10.73 in the prelims of the men's 100 meter dash. Moore followed up that impressive performance with a 12th place finish in the semi-finals with a mark of 10.69, just .03 seconds off his fastest time this season.
Day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational will kick-off in the field at 11:00 a.m. with the women's high jump. The first track event will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the women's 4x100m relay.
