SPARTANBURG, S.C.  (March 1, 2017) – The Southern Conference announced its Indoor Track & Field honors on Wednesday as ETSU’s Nathan Rivera earned the men’s most outstanding field athlete accolade while Katrina Seymour earned the women’s most outstanding track performer.

Seymour was named Most Outstanding Track Performer after winning three individual SoCon titles in the 60m dash, 400m and 200m while also earning a SoCon title as part of the women’s 4x400 meter relay team.

Going 4-for-4 in events last weekend at the SoCon Championships, Seymour earned the most points out of any competitor at the meet (32.5) and was named the women’s most outstanding athlete.

This season, Seymour had the top time in the Southern Conference in the 60m (7.50), 200m (24.32) and 400m (54.70).

Junior Nathan Rivera earned the men’s most outstanding field athlete accolade after winning four of the seven heptathlon events with a score of 5,041 points at the SoCon Indoor Championships en route to the individual SoCon title. Rivera’s highest point total in the heptathlon prior to the conference meet was 3,591 points.

Overall, Rivera accounted for 20 of the Bucs’ 137 points on the men’s’ side that finished third overall at the SoCon Championships. This season, Rivera had the 10th fastest time in the 60 meter hurdles (8.49), fourth best mark in the high jump (6’ 4.75”), long jump (22’ 11.75”) and highest point total in the heptathlon (5,041) in the SoCon.
