CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (April 23, 2022) – ETSU’s Phelani Maduwa (Parys, Free State, South Africa) posted a top 10 finish in the 800m run on Saturday afternoon at the Virginia Challenge inside Lannigan Field.

Maduwa registered his fastest time of the season as he clocked in at 1:50.55 en route to finishing 10th in a field of 53 runners. Maduwa, who was one second shy of setting a personal best, registered the fastest 400m start among any of the competitors on Saturday as he opened the first half of the race in 52.67.

In the women’s 800m, Genevieve Schwarz (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) finished 44th with a time of 2:14.30.

Maduwa and Schwarz were the only Bucs competing on the final day of the meet, which is the largest meet on the East Coast this weekend with over 1,700 student-athletes on site.

The Bucs now turn their attention to the Southern Conference Championships, which begin next Saturday, April 30 in Birmingham, Ala.
