CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 16, 2023) – ETSU freshman Ethan Fulford (Knoxville, Tenn.) concluded day one of the decathlon on Thursday from the 49er Classic.
With the first five events completed, Fulford registered 2,856 points and sits in seventh-place in 12-competitor field.
Fulford bagged his most points on the day in the 400m where he ran 52.52, resulting in a third-place finish and 702 points. The Buccaneer freshman began competition collecting 628 points in the 100m after clocking in at 12.12.
Fulford’s third-highest point total on the day came in the shot put where he generated 551 points thanks to posting a mark of 11.08m. Following the shot put – where Fulford finished fourth – he cleared 1.65m in the high jump, giving him 504 points in the event. The Knoxville native totaled 471 points in the long jump with a distance of 5.45m.
Fulford wraps up competition in the decathlon on Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
