CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 13, 2023) – The ETSU men’s and women’s track and field programs gear up for the Catamount Classic, which will be held April 14-15 at the Catamount Athletic Complex in Cullowhee, N.C.

Meet: Catamount Classic

Location: Catamount Athletic Complex (Cullowhee, N.C.)

Time: The meet gets underway Friday with men’s pole vault at 1 p.m. and women’s 100m hurdles at 3:30 p.m. … Saturday’s events begin at Noon with men’s shot put, women’s discus, women’s high jump and men’s triple jump

ETSU is scheduled to send 44 athletes to North Carolina this weekend

Twenty-six women and 18 men are set to are set to compete

The Bucs won eight gold medals at this event last year … Genevieve Schwarz (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) looks to make it three straight years with a win in the 800m, while Miguel Parrilla (Knoxville, Tenn.) eyes another victory in the 800m on the men’s side

In addition to the two wins in the 800m last season, ETSU swept golds in the men’s and women’s steeplechase, while also capturing victories in the men’s 1500m, women’s 100m, women’s 400mH and women’s 4x400m relay

Evan Guzman (Franklin, Tenn.) is looking to win gold for a second straight meet as he won the men’s 5000m at last weekend’s Tennessee Invitational

UP NEXT

ETSU will make its final tune up before the next month’s Southern Conference Championships as the Bucs compete in the Virginia Challenge, which is set for April 20-22 in Charlottesville.
