JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 25, 2009) - Spring has sprung and that means many of the area's golfers will be heading outdoors for another season on the links.
The ETSU Center of Excellence for Sports Science and Coach Education would like to do its part to improve golfers' performance this year, as it will host the first of its Optimum Sports Performance Series, which will focus on golf strength training, conditioning, stretching and yoga. The event, which will be held in the Basler Center for Physical Activity on the ETSU campus Saturday, March 28 from 8 a.m. until noon, is intended for all area golfers and will cost just $75 for four hours of golf specific education and training.
The event will be led by two time Olympian and current Director for the Center of Excellence for Sports Science and Coach Education Meg Stone, along with Tyler Woodruff, a certified fitness instructor.
"Working with the ETSU men's golf team has made me realize the importance of strength conditioning and flexibility in order to play the game well," Stone said. "And for the recreational golfer becoming a little better really improves the enjoyment and quality of the golfing experience."
