CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (June 30, 2020) -- Four ETSU women’s golfers were named All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association, which was announced by the organization on Monday.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 25, 2020) – It was another record-setting day for ETSU Athletics, this time thanks to the Southern Conference Honor Roll. The Bucs placed 262 student-athletes on the 2019-20 SoCon Honor Roll, blowing by the program’s previous record of 229 set in 2017-18. The SoCon office released the Honor Roll on Thursday morning.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 24, 2020) – A record-setting 62 ETSU student-athletes accounted for the Buccaneers’ 79 total selections on the Southern Conference Spring All-Academic list, as the league office announced it honors on Wednesday.

(June 18, 2020) – The first wave of the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA were announced on Wednesday afternoon by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Four different Buccaneers were named to the All-America Scholar list: Austin Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.), Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan), Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.) and Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.).

(June 17, 2020) -- ETSU Women’s Basketball Associate Head Coach Keisha McClinic was one of just 15 women’s basketball assistant coaches in the nation to garner an invitation to last week’s TopConnect, the premiere development symposium for up-and-coming college coaches around the country.

Headlining the five future opponents are three FBS schools: Liberty, Mississippi State and North Carolina. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 13, 2020) – ETSU women’s soccer head coach Jay Yelton officially announced his 2020 signing class Saturday morning, adding five players to the program for the 2020 season.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 11, 2020) — East Tennessee State University senior pitcher Landon Knack (Johnson City, Tenn.) was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers as the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Thursday evening. As the 60th pick, Knack becomes the third highest pick in program history and is the first Buccaneer to be drafted in the second round.
51 to 1. That was the strikeout-to-walk ratio for ETSU Baseball’s starting pitcher, Landon Knack (Johnson City, Tenn.), when the season stopped. The Bucs were halfway to UNC Wilmington when the bus made a U-Turn to come back to Johnson City. “We were three hours down the road, and then without stopping, turned around and came three hours back,” said Knack. “Crazy is the best word.”

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 23, 2020) – ETSU Football Head Coach Randy Sanders has announced the addition of Desmond Dailey Jr. to the 2020 recruiting class. Dailey Jr. signed a national letter of intent to join the ETSU football program and will join 23 others who committed earlier this spring.

(April 18, 2020) – A pair of Buccaneer Men’s Golfers were tabbed with postseason honors as Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) and Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) were named to the PING Division I East All-Region team on Thursday afternoon. The all-region teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The ETSU duo are two of just three Southern Conference golfers named to the list, joined by Jonathan Brightwell of UNCG.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 17, 2020) -- Head Coach Brittney Ezell announced today the signing of 5-foot-11 guard/forward Imani Williams and 5-foot-10 guard/forward Abby Carrington, who will both join the Bucs for the 2020-21 campaign.

(March 17, 2020) -- By unanimous votes of the league’s Council of Presidents and directors of athletics, the Southern Conference is canceling all athletics-related activities for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, including competition, championships, organized practices and meetings, due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Commissioner Jim Schaus announced Tuesday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 2, 2020) — After getting off to an incredible start to 2020 with a 4-0 record, 1.08 ERA, 51 strikeouts and just one walk, Landon Knack (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named the fifth-best pitcher in Division I.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 25, 2020) – ETSU Men’s Tennis Head Coach Martin Stiegwardt happily announces the signing of Francisco Lamas to a national letter of intent. Lamas signed the letter of intent on March 10, prior to the NCAA shutting down all in-person recruiting. Lamas will join the program in the fall of 2020.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 10, 2020) — The ETSU Baseball team carried an eight-game win streak into Knoxville on Tuesday evening, but were unable to continue their winning ways as the Blue and Gold fell to the University of Tennessee 17-5.
WALLACE, N.C. (March 10, 2020) -- For the second time this season and third of her career, ETSU junior women’s golf standout Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) earned medalist honors.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 10, 2020) – The final round of the General Hackler Championship concluded on Monday afternoon in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with the Bucs staying put in fourth place. The ETSU Men’s Golf team recorded a fourth-place finish after carding a final-round score of 4-under-par (284) to finish with a tournament score of 5-under-par (859).
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 10, 2020) – ETSU Men’s Tennis standout Frazier Rengifo (Cali, Colombia) laid claim to his second consecutive Southern Conference Player of the Week honor, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Rengifo joins Mercer’s Olivier Stuart and Chattanooga’s Niklas Gerdes as repeat winners this season.

(March 9, 2020) – The first two rounds of the General Hackler Championship are in the books and the ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team is tied for fourth place at 1-under-par for the event. The Bucs are tied with North Carolina State, while trailing No. 35 Liberty (-5), No. 7 Wake Forest (-7) and No. 26 North Carolina (-12).
Wallace, N.C. (March 9, 2020) — Led by Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) who shot even par on the day, ETSU’s Women’s Golf team completed day one of the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C. The team finished the day 22-over par to put them at fifth place in the field of 12.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 9, 2020) — After setting new personal best for the third time in four starts and breaking a school record, it’s no surprise that Johnson City native, Landon Knack was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week. The conference office announced the award on Monday afternoon. Knack was also named one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week.
Knoxville, Tenn. (March 9, 2020) — The ETSU Baseball team is off to a strong start in 2020 hosting a 12-2 record and has been victorious in their last eight games, including an upset over Clemson. The Bucs will face their third Power-5 team of the season on Tuesday evening as they travel to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (March 9, 2020) -- The ETSU men’s basketball team continues its historic season Monday night when the top-seeded Buccaneers take on seventh-seeded Wofford in the Southern Conference Championship game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Harrah’s Cherokee Center.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 8, 2020) — The ETSU Baseball team continued their success on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Marist and a 6-4 win over Ohio at Thomas Stadium to conclude the ETSU Baseball Tournament. The Bucs have now won eight in a row dating back to Feb. 23.
WALLACE, N.C. (March 8, 2020) -- The ETSU women’s golf team returns to the course this week as the Buccaneers head to the Tar Heel state for the UNCW River Landing, which will be held Monday and Tuesday from the River Landing Golf Course.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 8, 2020) – The ETSU Men’s Golf team has officially made the trek to the Palmetto State to take part in the 2020 General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The jam-packed tournament will feature 15 teams and will be played at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. The event will begin on Monday, March 9 and conclude on Tuesday, March 10.
CLERMONT, Fla. (March 8, 2020) — The ETSU Triathlon team kicked off their 2020 spring schedule with a two-day race in Clermont, Fla. In individual results, the Bucs had a total of four athletes in the top-25 over the course of the two days.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 8, 2020) – Strong pitching, timely hitting and great defensive play was the recipe for the Bucs’ 3-1 win over Toledo in the final game of the Tennessee Invitational on Sunday morning in Knoxville, Tenn. With the win, ETSU improved to 9-13 on the season and 2-3 in the tournament.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 7, 2020) – The ETSU Softball team couldn’t keep its mojo as of late, dropping a pair of contests in Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday in the Tennessee Invitational at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Bucs began the day with a narrow 5-3 loss to Stanford, nearly ending The Cardinal undefeated weekend. ETSU then had to wait nearly seven hours to begin their night cap against Tennessee in which they dropped a 10-2 decision to the Lady Vols. With the pair of losses, ETSU falls to 8-13 on the year.
CLEMSON, S.C. (March 7, 2020) – No opponent has proven too big for the Bucs this season and that showed on Saturday as the ETSU Men’s Tennis team toppled another ranked opponent, this time defeating 46th-ranked Clemson by the final score of 4-1. The Bucs have gone toe-to-toe with several ranked opponents this year and have now defeated one in a true road match with the win over the Tigers today in Clemson, S.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 7, 2020) — Landon Knack (Johnson City, Tenn.) entered the weekend leading the nation in strikeout to walk ratio and he continued his dominance in ETSU’s 13-1 win over Wagner on Saturday afternoon. Knack set a program single-game record with 16 strikeouts in the contest.

With the Friday split, the Bucs improved to 8-11 on the campaign, running their winning streak to four games before suffering the nine-run loss to Tennessee.

(Feb. 23, 2020) – Following the Southern Conference opening win over Samford (6-1), the ETSU Men’s Tennis team decided to stay an extra night to take on Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2020) — With a five-run ninth inning, the ETSU baseball team gave fans a Sunday to remember taking down the Toledo Rockets 9-7 in heroic fashion. Kyle Richardson’s (Zionsville, Ind.) second homerun as a Buc sent the fans home happy with a three-run walk-off blast over the left field wall to give ETSU the win.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2020) – The ETSU Men’s Tennis team won its first true home match of the season, defeating Appalachian State by the final score of 5-2 at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. Following the win, the Bucs improved to 2-6 on the season and have now snapped a three-match slide.

(Feb. 16, 2020) — The ETSU women’s tennis team had a quick turnaround after yesterday’s win over Cincinnati as they faced the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders on Sunday morning. The Bucs held a lead in the middle of the match, but were unable to secure the win falling to MTSU 4-3.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2020) – Defensive blunders and lack of early offense proved too much to overcome for the Bucs as ETSU dropped the tournament finale to the Jacksonville Dolphins, 7-1. With the loss, the Bucs fall to 3-6 on the season after a 3-2 record in the Sunshine State.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2020) – The ETSU Softball team picked up its first and second win of the season on Friday with a doubleheader sweep in the first day of the Osprey Dolphin Invite. The Bucs defeated Alabama A&M by the score of 9-1 before besting North Florida, 10-6. ETSU scored 19 runs on the day, including 13 combined runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings of the two games. With the victories, ETSU improves to 2-4 on the season.

(Nov. 16, 2019) – The home finale did not disappoint as ETSU held several celebrations throughout the game including: Senior Day, celebrating a 38-33 win and most notably witnessing a program rushing record set by Quay Holmes (Powder Springs, Ga.) as he scampered for 255 yards. Holmes’ 255-yard performance broke a 21-year-old record of 242 yards held by ETSU Hall of Famer, Brandon Walker.

TEMPE, Ariz. (Nov. 16, 2019) – ETSU’s final race of the fall was the most prominent of the fall with another top-three finish in the USA Triathlon National Championship. Lane McDonald (South Bend, Ind.) took the top spot for the Bucs, she finished fourth overall with a time of 1:07:42.

The Bucs distanced themselves from the rest of the field following the second-lowest round of the tournament, outlasting No. 41-ranked Ole Miss (-20) by nine strokes. The Bucs began the day in a tie with Louisville at 14-under-par until ETSU caught fire and recorded a 29-under-par 835 for the event.

(Oct. 13, 2019) – Despite not claiming the team championship, the ETSU Buccaneers received a boost from its hometown junior as Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) laid claim to his first-ever individual championship at the collegiate level. Rhea became just the fourth Buccaneer to win the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate individual championship and the first since Adrian Meronk did so back in 2015. Rhea finished the tournament at 15-under-par (201), tying 2018’s winner (Simon Zach) for the second-lowest three-round score in the tournament’s history.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2019) – ETSU’s volleyball continued their success on the court with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 31-29) sweep of the UNCG Spartans. The Bucs are 2-0 to begin conference play for the first time since rejoining the SoCon in 2014.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 28, 2019) – Defense was the name of the game in Saturday’s Southern Conference showdown between ETSU and Furman in Greenville, S.C. The Bucs dropped a narrow 17-10 contest at 15th-ranked Furman, despite outgaining the Paladins 290-268. With the loss, the Bucs fall to 2-3 (0-2 SoCon), while the Paladins improve to 3-2 (2-0 SoCon).

Greene, Jr. Stadium on Saturday night. In front of the second-largest crowd in Greene Stadium history (9,350), the Bucs’ defense recorded back-to-back interceptions on the final two drives of Austin Peay to seal the win.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 17, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team concluded the Windon Memorial in Lake Forest, Ill. on Tuesday afternoon firing an even-par round of 284. The 284 in the final round kept the Bucs at 7th overall in the event and was tied for the third-lowest round of the day, allowing the Bucs to finish with a score of 860 (+8) for the tournament.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 16, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf Team sits in the middle of the pack following day one of the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern in Lake Forest, Ill. The Bucs had a scorching 18 holes in round one, firing a 281 (-3) to sit in 2nd place. However, a tougher second 18-hole stretch saw the Bucs drop to 7th place following an 11-over-par 295 in the second round. ETSU played 36 holes in day one with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET followed by round two immediately after the conclusion of round one. Four different Buccaneers are tied for 23rd overall at 2-over-par 144.

ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 8, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers saw their first tournament of the 2019-20 season come to an end on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Face, Ga. Competing in the Carpet Capital Collegiate for the first time since 2010, the Bucs did not disappoint in the opening tournament, placing T-2 with Charlotte and North Florida with a score of 17-over-par 881. ETSU only trailed host Georgia Tech, finishing with a score of 3-under-par 861. ETSU was one of only four teams to improve each round from carding a 302 (+14), 291 (+3) and a 288 (E) to make the biggest jump up the leaderboard for the second consecutive day, catapulting from 7th to 2nd.
DOVER, Del. (Sept. 8, 2019) – The Bucs got back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, controlling their way to a dominant 5-2 victory on the road at Delaware State behind five different scorers.

Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Olivia Cunningham (Knoxville, Tenn.) were named to the Coastal Carolina Classic All-Tournament Team after combining for 39 kills in today's effort.
