SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- East Tennessee State University President Dr. Brian Noland will represent the Southern Conference on the NCAA Division I Board of Directors, with his four-year term beginning after the board’s Aug. 2 meeting.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 23, 2023) -- At a press conference earlier today, East Tennessee State University President Dr. Brian Noland named Dr. Richard “Doc” Sander as the university’s permanent director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Sander had been serving as interim athletic director (AD) since August of last year.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Jan. 19, 2023) -- As ETSU students returned to campus for the spring semester earlier this week, the Southern Conference announced its Fall All-Academic Team on Thursday. ETSU led all schools by landing 57 student-athletes on the academic all-conference team.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 6, 2022) – The ETSU men’s soccer team had a lot of positives in the first year of the David Lilly era; however, it didn’t end the way the Buccaneers were hoping for.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 5, 2022) – A week after meeting down in Macon to end the regular season, ETSU and Mercer will meet again. This time it will be in the friendly confines of Summers-Taylor Stadium when the No. 2 seed Buccaneers host No. 3 Mercer in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament on Sunday at 3 p.m..
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 3, 2022) – After finishing the regular season with an 8-5-3 overall record and a 3-1-1 conference mark, the ETSU men’s soccer team racked up the Southern Conference postseason awards as the league office announced its accolades on Thursday. In total, the Bucs received four first team selections, two second team members, one all-freshman team honoree and Cole Hunter (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) receiving the Goalkeeper of the Year award.
MACON, Ga. (Oct. 29, 2022) – On Saturday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team came up short after allowing two goals inside the first 15 minutes to Mercer. Closing out the regular season on a 2-3 loss at Betts Stadium in Macon, Ga., the Bucs conclude the 2022 regular season campaign with a 8-5-3 overall mark and a 3-1-1 mark in conference play.
MACON, Ga. (Oct. 28, 2022) – On Saturday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team will play its regular season finale in Macon, Ga. as they take on Mercer at 7 p.m. The Bucs can claim at least a share of the SoCon regular-season title for the first time since 2017, when they finished 6-0-4.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 26, 2022) – After scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win against Furman on Saturday, junior forward Tarik Pannholzer (Flensburg, Germany) was named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 25, 2022) – Playing its final non-conference match of the regular season, the ETSU men’s soccer team fell behind early, but the Buccaneers fought back en route to defeating Northern Kentucky, 4-1, on Tuesday afternoon inside Summers-Taylor Stadium.

(Oct. 24, 2022) – On Tuesday afternoon, the ETSU men’s soccer team will play its final regular season home game of the year as they welcome Northern Kentucky at 3 p.m. in Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Bucs will play their final non-conference game of the season before returning to conference play on Saturday night at Mercer.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2022) – On Saturday afternoon, ETSU men’s socccer defeated Furman for the first time since 2015 in a 1-0 battle at Summers-Taylor Stadium. Scoring his third game-winning goal of the season Tarik Pannholzer (Flensburg, Germany) aided the Bucs to their third conference win of the season to improve to 3-0-1 in conference play and 7-4-3 overall.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2022) – On Saturday afternoon, the ETSU men’s soccer team will play its final conference home game of the year as they host Furman at 12 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium. Unbeaten in the last three games, the Bucs look to remain atop of the SoCon standings as the regular season nears an end.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 19, 2022) -- The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday that next Tuesday’s men’s soccer game with Northern Kentucky has been moved to a 3 p.m. kickoff at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 18, 2022) – The ETSU men’s soccer team gave No.11 Louisville all they could handle in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in Kentucky.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 17, 2022) – Following a 1-1 draw at UNC Greensboro, the ETSU men’s soccer team will take a break from conference play and matchup against nationally-ranked Louisville on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Facing ranked opponents in back-to-back games, the Bucs look to pick up their first win against a ranked opponent since 2016.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 15, 2022) – On Saturday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team battled for 90 minuets in Greensboro and finished with a 1-1 draw at No.23 UNC Greensboro. After a Kieran Richards (Hamilton, New Zealand) goal in the 26th minute, the Bucs held the lead for 60 minuets until conceding an 87th minute goal.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 14, 2022) – On Saturday night the ETSU men’s soccer team will to Greensboro, N.C. to take on nationally-ranked UNC Greensboro. As both teams own a 2-0 record in conference play, Saturday night will be an opportunity for the Bucs to sit alone at the top of the SoCon standings.

(Oct. 8, 2022) – On Saturday night the ETSU men’s soccer team started their first of three straight on the road, defeating Wofford 3-0 behind a brace by Kieran Richards (Hamilton, New Zealand). Winning in Spartanburg, S.C. the Bucs improve to 2-0 in conference play and 6-4-1 overall.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 7, 2022) – On Saturday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team will resume conference play as they head to Spartanburg, S.C., to face off against Wofford. The Bucs look to remain perfect in the SoCon while starting the first of a three-game road swing.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 4, 2022) – Surrendering a pair of first-half goals – the first time allowed at home this season – the ETSU men’s soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to Virginia Tech on Tuesday night at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 3, 2022) – After opening conference play with a 3-0 victory over VMI, the ETSU men’s soccer team hosts Virginia Tech Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Summers-Taylor Stadium. Taking a quick break from conference play the Bucs host Virginia Tech for the first time since 2011.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2022) – On Friday afternoon, the ETSU men’s soccer team opened conference play with a 3-0 victory over VMI at Summers-Taylor Stadium. Behind a brace by Kieran Richards (Hamilton, New Zealand) the Bucs improved to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the SoCon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2022) – Due to possible weather threats from Hurricane Ian, the men’s soccer SoCon opener against VMI has be moved up to a 2 p.m. kickoff on Friday at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The contest was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
RADFORD, Va. (Sept. 27, 2022) – On Tuesday night the ETSU men’s soccer team defeated Radford on the road by a score of 3-0. Improving to 4-3-1 on the season, the Bucs were led by Cameron Carroll (Knoxville, Tenn.) who both opened and closed the scoring for ETSU.
RADFORD, Va. (Sept. 26, 2022) – The ETSU men’s soccer team will travel to Radford, Va. to faceoff against Radford on Tuesday night. Set for a 6 p.m. kickoff, the Bucs look for a win before their conference opener on Friday night against VMI.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 20, 2022) – ETSU men’s soccer played Gardner-Webb to a scoreless battle for the first 85 minutes on Tuesday night, but the Buccaneers surrendered a goal in the final stages of the match, falling 1-0 to the Runnin’ Bulldogs inside Summers-Taylor Stadium.

Hosting a game in Summers-Taylor Stadium for the first time since August 28, the Bucs look to get back into the win column after losing 1-0 last Tuesday against North Carolina.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Sept. 13, 2022) – On Tuesday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team battled against North Carolina, losing 1-0. Playing in Chapel Hill, N.C., the Bucs ended a four-game road haul, moving to 3-2-1 on the season.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2022) – Following a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon, the ETSU men’s soccer team makes a trip to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face North Carolina on Tuesday night. Off to a 3-1-1 start to the season, the Bucs look for their fourth win while playing their fourth straight match on the road.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 10, 2022) – On Saturday afternoon, the ETSU men’s soccer team battled for 90 minutes to end in a scoreless draw against USC Upstate at the County University Soccer Stadium. Facing its second consecutive Big South opponent on the road, the Bucs move to 3-1-1 on the season.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 9, 2022) – Opening the season with a 3-1 record, the Bucs travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on 0-3 USC Upstate on Saturday afternoon. Playing its third consecutive game on the road, ETSU looks to bounce back after a loss on Tuesday night.
CLINTON, S.C. (Sept. 6, 2022) – The ETSU men’s soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season as the Buccaneers surrendered a pair of second-half goals and fell 2-0 to Presbyterian on Tuesday night at Martin Stadium.
CLINTON, S.C (Sept. 5, 2022) – After opening the season with a 3-0 record, the ETSU men’s soccer program travels to Clinton, S.C. to take on undefeated Presbyterian College on Tuesday evening. Set for a 6 p.m. kickoff, it will be the second of four straight on the road for the Bucs.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 2, 2022) – On Friday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team traveled to Asheville, N.C. and defeated UNC-Asheville, 3-2, at Greenwood Soccer Field. Securing the win in the last minute of the game, the Bucs open the season 3-0 for the first time since 2011.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 2, 2022) – After defeating Longwood and Davidson, the Bucs look to go 3-0 when they take on UNC-Asheville on Friday night. Hitting the road for the first time of the season, the Bucs will be in Asheville, N.C. for the first time since 2009.

(Aug. 30, 2022) – The Southern Conference announced its Player of the Week awards Tuesday afternoon, naming forward Kieran Richards (Hamilton, New Zealand) Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Cole Hunter (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) Defensive Player of the Week. The awards come after a 4-0 win over Longwood on Thursday and a 3-0 win over Davidson on Sunday afternoon.

(Aug. 28, 2022) – After an hour weather delay Sunday evening at Summers-Taylor Stadium, the ETSU men’s soccer team defeated Davidson 3-0, behind a brace by junior forward Carlos Portas (Barcelona, Spain). Following the win, the moved to 2-0 on the young season, marking the second straight year ETSU has opened the campaign with back-to-back wins.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 27, 2022) – After opening the season with a 4-0 win against Longwood Thursday night, the Bucs host Davidson on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. inside Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Blue and Gold look to open back-to-back seasons with a 2-0 record.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2022) – The ETSU men’s soccer team opens its 2022 season at home in a Thursday evening matchup against Longwood. With a 6 p.m. kickoff inside Summers-Taylor Stadium, this will be the second consecutive season the two teams open their season against one another. The season opener comes after two preseason exhibition wins, which included games against King University and Elon University.
In a release issued by the Southern Conference Tuesday afternoon, the Buccaneers’ representative on the 11-man Preseason All-Southern Conference team was junior forward Tarik Pannholzer (Flensburg, Germany).
