Johnson City, Tenn. (May 30, 2002) -- East Tennessee State softball coach Stephanie DeFeo announced Thursday the signing of Kathryn Lewis (Erwin, Tenn.) to a national letter of intent to play for the Bucs beginning in the 2003 season. Lewis starred as a right fielder for coach Charlie Baxter at nearby Unicoi County High School in Erwin. She earned all-district honors in 2000 and 2002 and all-conference accolades in 2001. Kathryn has played on many all-star and club teams during her four years at Unicoi County and also participated in golf and basketball for the Blue Devils. Lewis was a teammate of current ETSU rising sophomore third baseman Lindsay Lane (Erwin, Tenn.) for three seasons at UCHS. East Tennessee State had a 25-32 record during the 2002 season and finished fourth in the Southern Conference Softball Championships earlier this month.
