ETSU's Spetar Named to All-Southern Conference Softball Team

Chattanooga, Tenn. (May 2, 2002) -- The league's coaches today voted East Tennessee State freshman centerfielder Danielle Spetar (Knoxville, Tenn.) to the All-Southern Conference softball second team from the conference championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. Spetar is the first All-Southern Conference selection in the two-year history of the East Tennessee State softball program. Spetar has been a leader on the field for the Bucs this season, tying for the team lead with six home runs. She is also either second on the team or tied for second in runs scored (25), hits (36), RBI (24), total bases (62), slugging percentage (.428) and stolen bases (13). Her stolen base total ranks her fifth in the Southern Conference. The No. 5-seeded Bucs (23-30, 9-12 Southern Conference) kick off the 2002 Southern Conference Softball Championships by facing the No. 4-seeded College of Charleston Cougars Thursday at 12 noon.
