DELAND, Fla. (May 11, 2007) - The ETSU softball team will face Campbell in the second game of Friday's Atlantic Sun Tournament hosted by Coca-Cola. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m., following the Stetson/Gardner-Webb game at Patricia Wilson Field.
The Bucs swept the Camels earlier this season and need to win four straight games to win the A-Sun Championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Regional. Mary Catherine Vercoe (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) went the distance in the 7-4 game one victory over Campbell in March, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits. Darci Gilbert (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Marissa Hardy (Rocklin, Calif.) worked solid in the 4-2 win in the nightcap. Gilbert went six innings and Hardy worked the final frame, earning her first collegiate save. As a team, the Bucs hit .327 (18-55) with four doubles, two triples and 10 RBI, and freshman Katy Jett (Talbot, Tenn.) went 5-for-8 (.625) with three doubles and four RBI against Campbell's pitching.
The winner of the ETSU/Campbell game will face the loser of Stetson/Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. Friday. Live video stream and stats will continue to be provided by Stetson University, by visiting www.GoHatters.com.
