JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 11, 2008) - With 22 games all ready in the books, the ETSU softball team will finally enjoy its home opener as they take on Tennessee Tech Wednesday afternoon in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. from Metro Kiwanis Park.

The Lady Bucs went 1-4 at the Under Armour Invitational; however, to ETSU's credit, they faced some difficult competition. ETSU currently stands at 8-14 overall and hopes to turn things around as the Lady Buccaneers play eight straight at home, including a pair of conference double dips.

Sophomore Katy Jett (Talbott, Tenn.) leads the club with a .344 (22-64) batting average, but its freshman Katie Henderson (Jackson, Tenn.) and junior Jessie Hackworth (Clinton, Tenn.) who have been providing most of the offensive output during the last seven games. The duo has driven in 12 of the 25 runs during this stretch and Henderson has the lone Lady Buccaneer home run.

Tennessee Tech, last season's Ohio Valley Conference champion and this year's conference favorite, have won six of its last nine, placing them 11-13-1 overall. The Golden Eagles swept the OVC's Player and Pitcher of the Week honors as Sarah Street posted a 0.68 ERA and Stephanie Fischer belted three homers this past week.
