CLEARWATER, Fla. (Mar. 8, 2008) - After battling bad weather the past couple days, the ETSU softball team was able to get in an entire game Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, for the Softball Bucs their seventh inning rally fell short and lost to Hofstra, 5-2, in ETSU's third game of the Under Armour Invitational from the Eddie C. Moore Sports Complex.
Once again errors continued to haunt the Lady Bucs as Hofstra's first two runs in the second were unearned. The Pride pushed two more runs across the plate an inning later, but ETSU did a great job keeping the game close by leaving three Hofstra runners stranded.
After the Pride plated their fifth run in the fourth, ETSU put together a rally in the seventh; however, could not overcome the 10-time conference champions. The Lady Buccaneers received RBIs from junior Jessie Hackworth (
ETSU (7-13) was limited to only four hits, while the Pride scored five runs on nine hits. Massenzo extended her hit streak to eight games with her single to center in the seventh. Over this stretch, Massenzo is hitting .375 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI.

The Softball Bucs wrap up play in the UA Invitational with a pair of games on Sunday. ETSU will take on Coastal Carolina at 9 a.m. and follow that up with UIC right after the early morning contest.
