CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 8, 2009) - Coming off a split at Coastal Carolina on Saturday, the ETSU softball team returns to action Monday afternoon when the Lady Bucs face Charleston Southern in matinee doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon inside Buccaneer Stadium.

ETSU brings a 9-4 record into play after taking game one from Coastal Carolina 6-3; however, the Lady Bucs couldn't cap off the sweep as the Chanticleers won the nightcap, 6-2. The Lady Bucs received strong hitting from senior outfielders Kate Powell (Johnson City) and Vicki McCoy (Ringgold, Ga.); while junior right-hander Marissa Hardy (Rocklin, Calif.) went on to win her fifth straight decision. Powell and McCoy each went 3-for-5 (.600) on Saturday, and Hardy allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out five in the opening game against Coastal Carolina.

Charleston Southern has won four straight and after claiming the Low Country Invitational this past weekend, the Buccaneers moved their record to 11-10. The Bucs are led by Kristin Kelleher's .522 batting average, while Megan Hall leads the club in hits (28) and RBIs (15). Senior righty Jamie Wellons leads the Bucs with seven wins and sophomore Sondra Vetter brings a team best 2.36 ERA into play on Monday.
