KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 5, 2012) – For the second time this season, sophomore first baseman/designated player Casey Horner (Whitesburg, Tenn.) received all-tournament team honors after being selected to the UT Classic All-Tournament Team, which was announced on Monday.
Horner hit .400 with a double, home run, run scored, and four RBI in games against Boston U. and No. 8 Tennessee this past weekend in Knoxville. The Whitesburg, Tenn. native single-handedly helped guide ETSU to a 7-3 win over Boston U. on Friday morning at the UT Softball Classic, as Horner went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, and four RBI against the Terriers. Horner also reached base twice against No. 8 Tennessee on Saturday.
For the week, Horner recorded a 1.200 slugging and a .571 on-base percentage.
Two weeks ago, Horner was also named to the Quality Inn Classic All-Tournament Team after hitting .364 (4-11) with a home run, two runs scored and a RBI at Troy.
The ETSU softball team returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Bucs travel to Lynchburg, Va. to face Liberty in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
