KENNESAW, Ga. (April 27, 2014) - Kennesaw State's Paige Matthews held ETSU to just two hits Sunday as the Buccaneers suffered a 4-1 road setback in the series' finale. ETSU's Casey Horner (Whitesburg, Tenn.) went 1-for-2 on the day, driving in the Bucs' lone run.
The Buccaneers (20-29, 7-15) were unable to duplicate Saturday's successes at the plate, with just three batters reaching base in Sunday's Game Three loss.
ETSU's lone run came in the top of the second inning when senior Jackie Baird (Ooltewah, Tenn.), who belted two home runs in yesterday's Game Two win, drew a walk before being driven home on a single to center field by Horner.
On the mound for the Bucs, Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) and Whitney Leon (Dandridge, Tenn.) combined to allow just three earned runs, with Leon tossing two innings of scoreless relief.
Leon held the Owls (24, 27, 13-12) without a hit during the fifth and sixth innings.
ETSU will take on Southern Conference opponent Appalachian State Wednesday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m.
Earlier this season, the Mountaineers took a pair of games from the Bucs in Johnson City.
