BOONE, N.C. (April 29, 2014) – The ETSU softball team will conclude non-conference competition as it takes on Southern Conference opponent Appalachian State Wednesday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. in Boone, N.C.
BUCS AMONG NATION'S ELITE
Several ETSU players rank among the nation's best, with senior Jackie Baird (Ooltewah, Tenn.) ranking second in the nation with a league-best 20 home runs. Over her last seven games, Baird has gone 11-of-20 at the plate with seven home runs and 15 RBI. Earlier this season, Baird became ETSU's leader for single-season and career home runs.
Freshman Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) ranks second in the country for fewest walks allowed per seven innings (0.69). The Brazil, Ind., native has allowed just 14 walks in 141 and two-third innings on the mound en route to earning a team-best 13 wins.
Meanwhile, junior Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.) ranks seventh in the nation with a five triples. She has also swiped 20 bases in 22 attempts.
Wolff has struck out just three times in 133 at bats, making her the sixth toughest player to strikeout in the nation. Wolff, who leads the Bucs (20-29, 7-15) with a .388 batting average, has gone 18-of-37 at the plate over her last 12 games.

The Mountaineers (17-29, 5-12 SoCon) will enter Wednesday's match-up riding a six-game loss streak. Appalachian State took two games from ETSU April 8 in Johnson City.
