JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 5, 2014) - ETSU Softball will host its annual Winter Skills Camp Jan. 24 and 25 inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center. The camp will feature three separate sessions, and will include instruction from ETSU Head Coach Brad Irwin, the ETSU coaching staff, as well as ETSU players.
Two grade-specific sessions will be held, with an 8th-grade-and-higher all skills clinic ($90) taking place Saturday, Jan. 24 from 9:30 a.m., to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 25, a 7th-grade-and-lower all skills clinic ($40) will run from 1:00 p.m., to 5:00 p.m.
A pitching and catching session ($65) will be given Sunday from 9:00 a.m., to 12:00 p.m, and will feature instruction from ETSU Assistant Coach Alex Hupp and ETSU players.
Campers who attend an all skills session will have the opportunity to attend the pitching and catching clinic at a discounted rate.
During the all skills sessions, players will learn key fundamentals in all aspects of the game, receiving detailed instruction in hitting, bunting, baserunning, speed training, throwing, and position specified fielding.
As part of the pitching and catching session, pitchers will receive detailed instruction of basic mechanics while learning drills to further perfect their movement pitch skills. Meanwhile, catchers will receive detailed instruction of proper fundamentals of catching, blocking, and throwing, while getting the opportunity to catch a pitcher to incorporate learned skills.
