GETTING UP TO SPEED

The Buccaneers (9-9) are coming off a doubleheader split at Presbyterian Wednesday, March 11.

Redshirt senior Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.) went a combined 3-for-8 on the day, extending her team-best hit streak to nine games. Fox, who leads ETSU with 23 hits, 12 runs and two triples, is one of only seven players in the Southern Conference to have hit multiple triples.

Senior pitcher Whitney Leon (Dandridge, Tenn.) earned the win for the Bucs in their 5-4 victory in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader, matching a career-high by striking out seven batters. She leads all ETSU pitchers with 34 strikeouts this season.

Senior shortstop Latosha Rectenwald (Whitesburg, Tenn.) hit a home run in each of Wednesday's games, increasing her season total to five. She and freshman Kelsey Smith (Tucson, Ariz.) are tied for the team lead in home runs (5). Rectenwald and Smith are the only SoCon teammates to have hit at least five homers each.

The Bucs' lineup also features nine batters hitting better than .300. ETSU ranks among the top-half of the SoCon in several offensive categories, including batting average (.304), slugging percentage (.480), and runs per game (5.11).

Impressively, ETSU is 22-for-22 on stolen base attempts this season, ranking second in the SoCon behind Mercer (44). Junior Jenine Duncan (Jonesborough, Tenn.) leads the Bucs with 12 steals, while Fox has swiped seven bases.

ETSU is one of just three teams in NCAA Division I to have stolen at least 20 bases without being caught stealing (Arizona: 32, Tennessee: 28).

OPPONENT AT A GLANCE

Eastern Michigan has won four of six contests since beginning the season 1-6.

The Eagles (5-8) currently rank 28th in NCAA Divison I for fielding percentage (0.973), with only four players having committed errors.
