GETTING UP TO SPEED

The Buccaneers (11-18, 1-5 SoCon) and Radford squared off twice during ETSU's Holiday Inn Invitational in early March, with the Bucs winning Game One, 8-7, and falling, 9-0, in Game Two. Seven ETSU players recorded hits in the Bucs' 8-7, extra-inning win, including Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.), who scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning.

Fox, who leads the Bucs in hits (34), runs scored (18), and triples (3), has proven to be one of the toughest outs in the Southern Conference this season, striking out just once per 17.2 at bats. Fox and teammate Jenine Duncan (Jonesborough, Tenn.) have accounted for 23 of ETSU's 29 stolen bases this season.

Duncan, the Bucs' leader in steals (13), ranks second in the SoCon in stolen bases per game (0.59).

Kelsey Smith (Tucson, Ariz.) remains the conference's leader in home runs per game (0.33) and runs batted in per game (1.07). Smith leads the Bucs with nine homers and 29 RBI. Fellow freshman Cassi Pickett (Chattanooga, Tenn.) leads the Bucs in batting average, having maintained a .342 batting average in 73 at bats.

Sophomore Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) ranks 43rd in the nation for fewest walks per seven innings (1.39). Carter leads ETSU with five wins in the pitcher's circle.

ETSU is currently in the midst of a six-game losing streak after dropping a three-game series to SoCon leader Chattanooga over the weekend. The Bucs are 3-8 in Johnson City on the year.

OPPONENT AT A GLANCE

The Highlanders (8-17, 4-4 Big South) will enter Wednesday's doubleheader having lost five of their last seven contests.

Sophomore righthander leads the Big South Conference with a 2.36 earned run average.

Five Radford players are batting better than .300, including Maggie Rowe (.328) and Whitney Davis (.310). Davis leads the Highlanders in hits (22) and RBI (18).

Radford is 4-14 away from home this season.
