JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 18, 2015) - ETSU's offense was held in check by Furman's freshman ace, Lindsey Bert, Saturday, as the SoCon Freshman of the Year candidate tossed her 23rd complete game of the season en route to leading the Paladins to a 12-0 win in six innings.

Bert's stellar performance helped Furman seal the series sweep versus the Buccaneers (12-25, 1-11 SoCon), as ETSU was limited to just three hits. The Tallahassee, Fla., native started all three games of the series, pitching 20 innings while allowing six earned runs and striking out 16 batters. She entered Saturday's contest ranking second in the Southern Conference for wins (16).

Junior outfielder Jenine Duncan (Jonesborough, Tenn.) accounted for two of ETSU's three hits, singling in the first and sixth innings.

Freshman Kelsey Smith (Tucson, Ariz.) recorded the Bucs' other hit, a two-out single in the fourth.

Bert's quality start was complemented by 12 Furman runs. The Paladins (23-21, 6-6 SoCon) plated four runs in the first, three in the second, and five in the sixth.

Saturday's series finale endured an hour-long rain delay which paused action in the top of the second inning.

ETSU will look to get back on track next weekend as the Bucs visit UNC Greensboro for a three-game series beginning Saturday, April 25. The series will kick off a five-game road trip for the Bucs, who will return to Betty Basler Field Saturday, May 2 to host Mercer for a three-game series.
