SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 26, 2019) -- The Southern Conference announced its academic honor roll for the 2018-19 academic year on Wednesday afternoon, including 228 ETSU student-athletes on the list.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has named Ohio University Director of Athletics Jim Schaus its new commissioner, effective July 1. A formal press conference to introduce Schaus will take place at the Southern Conference office in Spartanburg on Wednesday, June 5, at 3 p.m.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 17, 2019) – The Southern Conference announced its 10 postgraduate scholarship recipients for the 2018-19 academic year on Friday afternoon. ETSU’s Malloree Schurr (Montgomery, Texas) received the Dorothy Hicks Scholarship. The 10 student-athletes will be honored for their accomplishments at the Southern Conference Honors Dinner in Hilton Head Island, S.C., on Tuesday, May 28.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 12, 2019) – For the first time in her illustrious career, senior infielder Taylor Wright (Erwin, Tenn.) was named to the 2019 SoCon All-Tournament Team for her performance in the SoCon Tournament in Chattanooga. The league office announced the all-tournament team late Saturday night following the conclusion of the championship game at 11 p.m. at Frost Stadium.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 10, 2019) – ETSU saw its season come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling to No. 4 seed Mercer by the final of 6-1 at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Bucs, seeded No. 5 in the 2019 Southern Conference Tournament, finished 2-2 in this week’s festivities, capping the season off with a 22-27-2 overall record.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 9, 2019) – The resilience of the ETSU Bucs was answered on late Thursday night as ETSU fought off a four-hour weather delay before eliminating the No. 2 seed Samford Bulldogs in eight innings by the final score of 5-2. The fifth-seeded Bucs improve to 2-1 in tournament play this year, while improving to 22-26-2 on the season.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 9, 2019) – The elimination game between No. 5 seed ETSU and No. 2 seed Samford at the 2019 Southern Conference Tournament has been pushed back to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night due to inclement weather that pushed its way into the Chattanooga area. The original start time was set for 4:30 p.m. but was immediately altered because of the storms.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 9, 2019) – ETSU will now have to fight its way out of the loser’s bracket in the 2019 Southern Conference Tournament after suffering a 9-1 defeat at the hands of top-seeded UNCG in game five of the tournament. With the loss, the Bucs fall to 21-26-2 on the campaign and 1-1 in the tournament.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 8, 2019) – Day two of the 2019 Southern Conference Tournament has been altered due to the impending weather making its way into Chattanooga, Tenn. The league office officially announced the change on Wednesday afternoon.

(May 8, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball team kicked off the 2019 Southern Conference Tournament with a bang yet again, cruising to a 5-1 victory over fourth-seeded Mercer in the opening game. With the win, No. 5 seed ETSU improves to 21-25-2 on the season and advances into the winner’s bracket where the Bucs will square off with top-seed UNCG on Thursday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 7, 2019) – In conjunction with the upcoming 2019 Southern Conference Tournament, the league office has announced the 2019 SoCon Softball Postseason Awards on Tuesday afternoon. A trio of Buccaneers garnered recognition on this year’s All-SoCon teams, including a pair on the First Team.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 7, 2019) – The ETSU Softball squad is geared up and ready for the 2019 Southern Conference Tournament at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. The fifth-seeded Bucs will begin the tournament on Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. in the first game of the week when they square off with No. 4 seed Mercer. The winner of game one will take on top-seeded UNCG on Thursday at noon, while the loser will play in the final game of day two at 8 p.m. against the loser of game six.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 5, 2019) – Now that the 2019 regular season has concluded, it is time for the ETSU Buccaneers to shift focus to the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Bucs will open the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will kick off the festivities with a 10 a.m. showdown against fourth-seeded Mercer on Wednesday, May 8. The tournament will run from Wednesday, May 8 – Saturday, May 11.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 4, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers could not hold off the Spartans in the closing innings, allowing two runs in the final three innings as ETSU dropped a 3-2 decision on Saturday against UNCG at the UNCG Softball Stadium. The Bucs fall to 20-25-2 on the season and 6-11 in Southern Conference following the walk-off loss.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 3, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers softball team split its final regular season doubleheader on Friday in Greensboro, N.C., claiming game two against the Spartans by the final score of 5-4. The Bucs dropped game one, 2-0, splitting the day’s events, improving to 20-24-2 on the season and 6-10 in Southern Conference play.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 2, 2019) – The ETSU Softball regular season will come to an end this weekend as the Bucs travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on UNCG. The series will begin on Friday, May 3 with a doubleheader commencing at 1 p.m. and conclude on Saturday, May 4 with a single game at 2 p.m. The Bucs are aiming to knock off the top squad in the Southern Conference, further advancing up the standings themselves.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 1, 2019) – The final regular season series between the ETSU Bucs softball squad and UNCG has been pushed up one day due to inclement weather in the Greensboro, N.C. region. The original schedule was slated to commence on Saturday and conclude on Sunday. However, the new altered schedule will begin with a doubleheader on Friday, May 3 beginning at 1 p.m. and concluding with a Saturday, May 4 showdown at 3 p.m.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 28, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team saw its Senior Day and regular-season home finale spoiled by in-state rival, Chattanooga, falling to the Mocs by the final score of 8-1 on Sunday afternoon at Betty Basler Field. With the loss, ETSU falls to 19-23-2 on the season and 5-9 in league play. The Bucs also cap the season with a 4-10 record at home.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 27, 2019) – ETSU split its final regular-season doubleheader on Saturday at Betty Basler Field, taking the second game against in-state rival Chattanooga. The Bucs rebounded after a tough 9-0 loss in game one with a 4-3 victory in game two, improving to 19-22-2 on the season and 5-8 in league play.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 26, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball team will close out its 2019 regular-season home schedule with a three-game stand against Chattanooga. The series will begin on Saturday, April 27 with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The final regular-season home game will take place on Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m. as the Bucs will honor their four seniors in Senior Day prior to the first pitch.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 18, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team split a pair of Southern Conference games on Thursday afternoon, dropping the first game to Furman before rebounding back to its winning ways in game two. With the split, the Bucs improved to 18-21-2 on the campaign and 4-7 in league action.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 17, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team looks to snap it’s eight-game losing skid this week with a three-game series against Southern Conference foe, Furman. The Bucs will kick off the series against the Paladins on Thursday, April 18 with a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at Betty Basler Field. The series will conclude with a single game on Friday, April 19 at noon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 16, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs Softball team ran into the No. 8 team in the NCAA in the Tennessee Lady Vols on Tuesday night at Betty Basler Field, falling by the final score of 11-0. With the loss, ETSU falls to 17-20-2 on the campaign having dropped its eighth consecutive game.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 15, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball squad will play host to No. 8 Tennessee on Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. at Betty Basler Field in Johnson City, Tenn. Tuesday’s contest will mark the final regular-season midweek showdown for the Bucs as the final three weeks will consist of Southern Conference, weekend series. Tuesday’s contest will also feature a sold-out crowd as ETSU Athletics announced Monday afternoon that all tickets have been purchased.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 13, 2019) – The Bucs dropped their seventh consecutive game, this time falling to Samford by the final score of 10-2 in six innings of play to conclude the three-game series. With the loss, ETSU falls to 17-19-2 on the season and 3-6 in Southern Conference play.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 12, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team saw its losing skid reach six consecutive games after dropping a Southern Conference doubleheader to Samford on Friday afternoon in Birmingham, Ala. With the pair of losses, ETSU falls to 17-18-2 and 3-5 in league play.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 11, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball team will look to improve on its Southern Conference road record as the Bucs travel south to Birmingham, Ala. for a three-game series against Samford. The SoCon series was originally slated to begin on Saturday but has since then been moved up a day due to inclement weather. The series will commence with a doubleheader on Friday, April 12 beginning at 5 p.m. ET and conclude on Saturday, April 12 with a single game starting at 1 p.m. ET.

(April 7, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball team dropped its fourth consecutive game including its third consecutive Southern Conference contest, falling to Mercer by the final score of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Betty Basler Field. With the loss, the Bucs fall to 17-16-2 and 3-3 in league play.

(April 6, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball team dropped its first conference home games of the season, falling in a Saturday doubleheader to Mercer on April 6 at Betty Basler Field. The Southern Conference doubleheader was the conference home opener for the Bucs, falling to 3-2 in league play following the pair of defeats.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 5, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers will settle back in to Betty Basler Field as the softball team will host Southern Conference foe, Mercer, this weekend in a three-game series. The home stand will begin on Saturday, April 6 with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The series finale will take place on Sunday, April 7 with the first pitch commencing at 1 p.m.
RADFORD, Va. (April 3, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers played their final midweek doubleheader of the season, splitting a pair of one-run contests with the Radford Highlanders on Wednesday, April 3 in Radford, Va. With the split, ETSU improved to 17-13-2 on the campaign and 14-13-2 in non-conference action.
RADFORD, Va. (April 2, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Softball team will turn the focus on another midweek, non-conference opponent as the Bucs travel to Radford, Va. for a doubleheader against Radford on Wednesday, April 3. The first pitch of game one is slated to begin at 3 p.m. at the Radford Softball Stadium.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 27, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs softball team dropped a second contest to Appalachian State in a matter of seven days, this time falling at home to the Mountaineers by the final score of 5-0 on Wednesday evening. The contest was played at Betty Basler Field in Johnson City, Tenn. The Bucs dropped a 7-1 decision at Appalachian State on March 20 in Boone, N.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 26, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers softball squad will put its three-game winning streak to the test on Wednesday, March 27 when ETSU hosts Appalachian State. The contest will be played at Betty Basler Field and first pitch will commence at 5 p.m. The two squads met on March 20 in Boone, N.C. with the Mountaineers claiming the 7-1 victory.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 25, 2019) – For the first time since rejoining the Southern Conference for the 2015 season, an ETSU Buccaneer freshman was named as the SoCon Player of the Week. Kasidy Dunn (Friendsville, Tenn.) claimed the weekly award as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (March 24, 2019) – For just the third time since rejoining the Southern Conference in 2015, the ETSU Buccaneers have completed a SoCon series sweep. The Bucs outdueled Western Carolina on Sunday in Cullowhee, N.C., picking up the 2-1 victory to improve to 3-0 in league play and 16-11-2 overall.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (March 23, 2019) – Saturday was not for the faint of heart as the ETSU Bucs picked up a pair of Southern Conference victories over Western Carolina in roller coaster fashion on Saturday afternoon in Cullowhee, N.C. ETSU rallied in game one and then surrendered a six-run lead in game two, winning both games after taking a two-run lead in the top of the seventh. With the win, ETSU improves to 15-11-2 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (March 22, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs will travel over the mountain for the second time this week, this time stopping in Cullowhee, N.C. The Bucs will open their Southern Conference schedule with Western Carolina beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23 beginning at 1 p.m. The series will conclude with a single game on March 24 at 1 p.m.
BOONE, N.C. (March 20, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs softball team dropped a tough contest at Appalachian State on Wednesday night, falling to the Mountaineers by the final score of 7-1 in Boone, N.C. With the loss, ETSU falls to 13-11-2 on the season and 4-6-1 in true road games.
BOONE, N.C. (March 19, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs softball team will turn attention to Appalachian State on Wednesday, March 20 for a midweek, single-game showdown in Boone, N.C. First pitch is slated to begin at 5 p.m. at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 16, 2019) – The ETSU Softball squad split a pair of Saturday shutouts in Cookeville, Tenn. with in-state rival, Tennessee Tech. The Bucs were shutout in game one by the final score of 2-0 but then returned the favor after shutting out the Golden Eagles in game two, 1-0. With the split, ETSU improves to 13-10-2 on the season.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 15, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs softball team will hit the road this weekend for a single-day, doubleheader against Tennessee Tech on Saturday, March 16. The twin bill will be played at the Tech Softball Field in Cookeville, Tenn. with a start time of 2 p.m. (EST). The two squads were set to square off this past weekend at the Buccaneer Classic before rain washed the showdown away.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 11, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers wrapped up the 2019 Buccaneer Classic on Monday with a single game against Evansville at Betty Basler Field. The Bucs dropped the contest by the final score of 6-5, falling to 2-2 on the weekend and 12-9-2 overall.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 10, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs finished Sunday’s doubleheader with a 1-1 record, splitting a pair of contests against the Evansville Purple Aces. With the split, ETSU improved to 12-8-2 on the campaign, while Evansville improves to 9-10.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 9, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs concluded day one of the Buccaneer Classic with a bang, defeating Siena by the final score of 11-5 in what served as the home opener for ETSU. With the win, ETSU improved to 11-7-2 on the season, snapping a three-game slide. The Saints fall to 3-9, dropping both contests on the day.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 7, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team will open its home schedule on Friday, March 8 at 1:15 p.m. when the Bucs take on Rutgers. ETSU will host the Buccaneer classic this weekend, beginning with a neutral showdown between Tennessee Tech and Rutgers at 11 a.m. on Friday. The Bucs will play a total of five games during the classic, including two on Friday.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 6, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs softball team dropped a pair of games to USC Upstate on Wednesday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C. With the losses, the Bucs fall to 10-7-2 on the season and 3-4-1 in true road contests.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 5, 2019) – The ETSU Softball squad will be back in action on Wednesday, March 6 as the Bucs travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on USC Upstate in a midweek doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled to commence at 2:30 p.m. at Cyrill Softball Stadium with the second game following thirty minutes of the conclusion of game one.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 5, 2019) – For the first time in her collegiate career, Malloree Schurr (Montgomery, Texas) has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Month for the month of February. The conference office announced the award this morning. Schurr is the first ETSU Buc to take home SoCon Player of the Month since Tiffany Laughren (Erwin, Tenn.) did so in 2017 in the month of April. Laughren captured two player of the month honors and was joined by teammate Danielle Knoetze (San Diego, Calif.) in a clean sweep of the SoCon hardware that season.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 2, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs Softball team concluded the 2019 Tiger Classic on Saturday evening, splitting a pair of contests against Portland State and host Tennessee State. With the split, the Bucs run their record to 10-5-2 on the season, capping off the weekend with a 2-1 record. The Bucs were scheduled to play five total games, however two have been called due to weather, including tomorrow’s contest against North Alabama.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 1, 2019) -- The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Firday that it has reached a new agreement with Nike & BSN SPORTS, as the official apparel, footwear & equipment provider for Buccaneer athletics.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 1, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs Softball squad kicked off the month of March and the Tiger Classic in a positive way, claiming the 12-10 victory over the Marist Red Foxes on Friday evening in Nashville, Tenn. It took eight innings for the Bucs to get the job done, but ETSU was able to claim its first extra-inning contest of the season. With the win, the Bucs improved to 9-4-2 on the campaign.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2019) – The ETSU Bucs softball team will be back in action Friday, March 1 when the Bucs travel west to Nashville, Tenn., to take part in the Tiger Classic hosted by Tennessee State. ETSU enters the weekend with an 8-4-2 overall record and will take on Marist (2-0), North Alabama (8-3), Portland State (6-8) and Tennessee State (1-4).
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2019) – For the second consecutive week, an ETSU softball player has taken home Southern Conference hardware. This time it was Nikki Grupp (Jacksonville, Fla.) who captured SoCon Player of the Week for games played from Feb. 18-24. The award was announced this afternoon by the league office and is the first SoCon Player of the Week honor for Grupp in her collegiate career. Grupp joins Kelly Schmidt (Norcross, Ga.) as the two award winners for the Bucs this season.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (Feb. 24, 2019) – The ETSU Softball Team concluded the GWU Softball Tournament with a heartbreaking loss to Gardner-Webb on Sunday, 5-4. The Bucs were ahead 4-0 with three outs to play but could not find the final two outs as ETSU surrendered five runs in the home half of the seventh. With the loss, ETSU falls to 8-4-2 on the season.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (Feb. 23, 2019) – For the second consecutive day, the ETSU Softball Team split a doubleheader in Boiling Springs, N.C. This time, the Bucs dominated in the first game with a 15-6 victory over St. Francis (PA), avenging a 16-10 loss to the Red Flash on Friday afternoon. With the split, ETSU improved to 8-3-2 on the season, including 2-2 this weekend.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The ETSU Softball team split a rainy, drawn out Friday doubleheader in Boiling Springs, N.C. at the GWU Softball Tournament. The Bucs slipped against St. Francis (PA) before returning later in the night to dismantle the host squad by the final of 17-1. ETSU plated 27 runs on the day, improving to 7-2-2 on the season. Malloree Schurr (Montgomery, Texas) stole the show, finishing 7-for-8 on the day with three doubles, one triple and one long ball. In addition, Schurr posted 10 RBIs on the evening, running her season total to a team-high 18 RBIs.

(Feb. 21, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team will look to continue its best start in program history this weekend when the Bucs take part in the GWU Softball Tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. ETSU will kick off the tournament on Friday with a doubleheader against St. Francis (PA) at noon, followed by host Gardner-Webb at 4 p.m. The Bucs will take on the Red Flash and Runnin’ Bulldogs twice this weekend, in addition to squaring off with Bowling Green.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2019) – Tuesday night’s softball game between ETSU and Tennessee has been rescheduled to April 16 due to inclement weather in the forecast. The game was originally slated to commence at 6 p.m. at Betty Basler Field on the campus of ETSU.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team returns to Johnson City for its home opener on Tuesday when the Bucs host sixth-ranked Tennessee at Betty Basler Field. First pitch between the Bucs and Volunteers is set to begin at 6 p.m.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2019) – Junior right hander, Kelly Schmidt (Norcross, Ga.), was named this week’s Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played from Feb. 11-17. The award was announced this afternoon by the league office and is the first SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor for Schmidt in her collegiate career.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The ETSU Softball team dropped its first game of the 2019 campaign, falling to undefeated Virginia Tech by the final score of 8-3 to close out the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational in Charleston, S.C. The Bucs concluded the tournament with a 4-1 overall mark, earning a pair of wins over Detroit Mercy and Charleston Southern.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The ETSU offense came to life in day two of the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational, pouring in 14 runs in two games. The Bucs earned victories over Detroit Mercy (2-1) and host Charleston Southern (12-0) to improve to 6-0-2 on the season, becoming the only unbeaten team left in the Southern Conference.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – A pair of one-run victories allowed the ETSU Softball team to get off to a strong start for the second weekend in a row. With the doubleheader sweep, the Bucs improve to 4-0-2 for a .833 winning percentage. ETSU’s .833 win percentage marks the best win percentage through the first six games in program history.

(Feb. 14, 2019) – The ETSU Softball team returns to action Friday when the Bucs open up the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational against Detroit Mercy at noon, followed by host Charleston Southern at 5 p.m. ETSU will play a total of five games, including two against Detroit Mercy and Charleston Southern, before closing out the tournament with Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.

CLINTON, S.C. (Feb. 9, 2019) -- The ETSU softball team opened the season with a pair of wins at the Blue Hose Invitational as the Buccaneers run-ruled Morgan State, 10-0 (five innings), before capping off the day with a 9-2 victory over Akron from the PC Softball Complex.
CLINTON, S.C. (Feb. 8, 2019) -- The ETSU softball team will open its 2019 season this weekend as the Buccaneers head to Clinton, S.C., for the Blue Hose Invitational. The Bucs will face Morgan State, Akron and Presbyterian over the two-day tournament at the PC Softball Complex.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Jan. 31, 2019) -- ETSU softball had three players earn preseason Southern Conference honors as the league office announced its awards on Thursday. Sophomore second baseman Lauren Lee (Cleveland, Tenn.) and senior designated player Taylor Wright (Erwin, Tenn.) were placed on the first team and junior third baseman Nikki Grupp (Jacksonville, Fla.) landed a spot on the second team.
