Today, June 23, 2022, marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX being passed by Congress and signed into law by President Richard Nixon.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 12, 2022) – The 2022 season came to an end for ETSU Softball on Thursday afternoon, falling in an elimination game to Western Carolina by the final of 3-2 in the Southern Conference Championship.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 11, 2022) – Despite outplaying Samford in all aspects of the game, ETSU Softball drops game one of the Southern Conference Championship in extra innings by the final of 4-3. The Bucs had costly errors in the sixth and the ninth innings, resulting in Samford scoring the game-tying and the go-ahead runs to steal game one from the Bucs.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 10, 2022) – For the second consecutive season, a trio of Buccaneers earned All-Southern Conference honors. This time it was Andrea Sarhatt (Knoxville, Tenn.), Kelly Warren (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Cameron Young (Knoxville, Tenn.) all earning spots on the All-SoCon Second Team. Young also earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 10, 2022) – For the first time since 2019, the ETSU Softball team will be competing in the Southern Conference Tournament. The Buccaneers, seeded No. 7, will square off with No. 2 seeded Samford tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at the UNCG Softball Stadium in Greensboro, N.C.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 8, 2022) – For the first time since the 2019 season, ETSU will be taking part in the Southern Conference Softball Championship. The COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the 2020 tournament and in 2021, only the top four seeds made the tournament due to COVID restrictions.
Greenville, S.C. (May 8, 2022) – ETSU Softball relinquished a seventh-inning lead as Furman claimed the 4-3 regular-season finale in Greenville, S.C. on Sunday at Pepsi Stadium. With the loss, ETSU falls to 8-46 and 4-14 in Southern Conference play, settling for the No. 7 seed in the upcoming SoCon Championship.
Greenville, S.C. (May 7, 2022) – ETSU Softball jumped back into the win column on Saturday with a pair of wins at Furman, locking up the first Southern Conference series in favor of the Blue & Gold since sweeping Western Carolina in three games in 2019. The Bucs have been edging closer and closer in conference games and on Saturday, all of the timely hitting and the calls went in favor of ETSU.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 6, 2022) – The 2022 regular season comes to a close this weekend for ETSU Softball as the Buccaneers travel to Greenville, S.C. for a three-game series at Furman.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 1, 2022) – ETSU Softball dropped its final home game of the 2022 season, suffering a 1-0, rain-delayed loss against Samford on Sunday afternoon at Betty Basler Field. Despite the loss, the Bucs witnessed a strong outing from Whitley Arnott (China Grove, N.C.) who finished the game tying a career high in strikeouts with seven.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 30, 2022) – It was another pair of tightly-contested games for ETSU Softball as the Bucs dropped two Southern Conference battles against Samford on Saturday at Betty Basler Field. The Bucs honored seven seniors following game two against the Bulldogs.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 29, 2022) – ETSU Softball will close out the 2022 home schedule with a three-game Southern Conference series against Samford this weekend at Betty Basler Field.
CLEMSON, S.C. (April 27, 2022) – ETSU Softball hung in with No. 18 Clemson on Wednesday afternoon, ultimately falling by the final of 6-2 in Clemson, S.C. With the loss, the Bucs drop to 6-42 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 34-14.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 26, 2022) – Tuesday’s softball showdown between ETSU and Gardner-Webb has officially been cancelled due to the field conditions brought on by the heavy rain this morning. The game will not be rescheduled with the regular season ending next weekend.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 25, 2022) – ETSU Softball will wrap up non-conference play this week with a single game against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday followed by a single outing at No. 18 Clemson on Wednesday. First pitch against the Runnin’ Bulldogs tomorrow is set for 4 p.m., while first pitch at Clemson will be at 6 p.m.
MACON, Ga. (April 24, 2022) – Sunday did not go in favor of the Bucs as ETSU Softball dropped the series finale at Mercer by the final score of 5-0 at Sikes Field in Macon, Ga.
MACON, Ga. (April 23, 2022) – It took 19 total innings of softball action to determine the winner of both games today as ETSU and Mercer split the Saturday doubleheader in Macon, Ga. The Buccaneers came away victorious in the first game, 3-2, before dropping a 2-1 decision in game two.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 19, 2022) – ETSU Softball suffered a pair of shutout losses to Appalachian State on Tuesday afternoon, falling 8-0 in both games to the Mountaineers. However, the Buccaneers did come away with some history, recording their 96th stolen base of the season to break the all-time school record for stolen bases in a single season.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 16, 2022) – ETSU Softball dropped the series finale to UNCG on Saturday by the final of 4-2. Despite the loss, the Buccaneers tied a single-season program record for stolen bases with their 95th stolen base. With the loss, ETSU falls to 5-37 overall and 1-8 in Southern Conference action.

(April 15, 2022) – The Buccaneer Softball team played in front of the home faithful for the first time in nearly three weeks as ETSU hosted UNCG in a Southern Conference doubleheader. The Bucs walked a total of 17 batters today and hit three more in the doubleheader loss, falling to 1-7 in league play.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 7, 2022) – ETSU Softball will play in its final tournament of the regular season down in Columbia, S.C., taking part in the Garnett & Black Round Robin hosted by South Carolina. The Bucs will square off against both South Carolina and N.C. State while in Columbia.
BOONE, N.C. (April 6, 2022) – ETSU Softball dropped a tough doubleheader on the road on Wednesday, suffering a pair of losses to cross-mountain rival Appalachian State.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2022) – Due to inclement weather making an appearance on Tuesday, ETSU Softball has officially postponed its single game against Gardner-Webb until Tuesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. The Bucs are now able to make up a previous midweek doubleheader that was rained out on March 16 when ETSU will travel to Boone, N.C. on Wednesday to square off with Appalachian State at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 3, 2022) – Despite a career outing in relief by Whitley Arnott (China Grove), ETSU suffered the series sweep on Sunday as Chattanooga upended the Bucs, 6-1, at Frost Stadium.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 19, 2022) – The final day of the 2022 Tiger Classic witnessed a pair of run-rule defeats for the Bucs, dropping a pair of 9-1 outcomes to James Madison and Northwestern State.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 16, 2022) – ETSU Softball had its midweek doubleheader against Appalachian State postponed due to weather and will now focus on the 2022 Tiger Classic in Memphis, Tenn. The tournament will begin on Friday, March 18 and will conclude on Saturday, March 19.
BOONE, N.C. (March 16, 2022) – Wednesday’s softball doubleheader at Appalachian State has been postponed due to inclement weather in the Boone, N.C. area. The twin bill was set to commence at 4 p.m. this afternoon. Both squads are hopeful to reschedule the event at a later time.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 11, 2022) – Despite a doubleheader loss to Miami, Kelly Warren (Mechanicsville, Va.) shined as she became the all-time stolen bases leader in ETSU history with 73. With the pair of losses to the Redhawks, ETSU falls to 4-17 on the campaign.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 10, 2022) – ETSU Softball is set to host Miami on Friday afternoon in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Betty Basler Field.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (March 9, 2022) – The offensive firepower by the sixth-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies proved too much for ETSU Softball as the Bucs dropped an 18-2 decision Wednesday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 8, 2022) – ETSU Softball announced on Tuesday evening a few schedule changes to the 2022 campaign. The Bucs will now travel to Blacksburg, Va. tomorrow to take on No. 6 Virginia Tech at 4 p.m. and will no longer play the Hokies on March 29. In addition, the Bucs’ three-game series this weekend against Miami (Ohio) is now a doubleheader to be played on Friday, Feb. 11 at Betty Basler Field beginning at 2 p.m. The final change to the schedule is that ETSU has added a second game against Appalachian State on Tuesday, April 19 when the Mountaineers visit Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 6, 2022) – The late-inning comeback by ETSU Softball was not enough as the Bucs dropped the series finale to Tennessee Tech on Sunday afternoon by the final of 5-4. With the loss, the Bucs fall to 4-14 on the season, while Tennessee Tech improved to 12-6.

(March 4, 2022) – The home opener has finally arrived for ETSU Softball and head coach Belinda Hendrix as the Bucs play host to Tennessee Tech in a three-game series beginning on Saturday. ETSU will play host to the Golden Eagles with a doubleheader on Saturday and conclude the series with one game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
CLINTON, S.C. (March 1, 2022) – ETSU Softball saw a victory snatched from its clutches on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 4-3 decision to Presbyterian in game two, immediately following a 5-0 loss to the Blue Hose. Both games were played at PC Softball Complex in Clinton, S.C.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Feb. 26, 2022) – ETSU Softball dropped a tough doubleheader at Georgia Tech on Saturday, amassing five combined hits between the two games. With the pair of losses, the Bucs fall to 4-9 on the season and 0-4 in the I-75 Tournament.
KENNESAW, Ga. (Feb. 25, 2022) – The opening day of the I-75 Tournament did not go the Buccaneers’ way as ETSU Softball finished 0-2 following losses to both Kennesaw State and Georgia State, falling to 4-7 on the season.
KENNESAW, Ga. (Feb. 24, 2022) – ETSU Softball looks to build off its strong weekend in North Carolina with a trip to Middle Georgia for the I-75 Tournament in both Kennesaw, Ga. and Atlanta, Ga. The Bucs (4-5) will take on a trio of opponents over a span of three days, beginning with Kennesaw State on Friday and ending the tournament against the Owls on Sunday.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (Feb. 20, 2022) – The ETSU Softball team closed out the Red & Black Classic with a Sunday sweep, defeating Morehead State (6-1) and Gardner-Webb (6-5). With the sweep, ETSU improves to 4-5 on the season after securing three wins in Boiling Springs, N.C.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (Feb. 19, 2022) – ETSU Softball split the opening day of the Red & Black Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C., earning a 10-5 win over Morehead State before falling to host Gardner-Webb by the final of 3-2. With the split, ETSU runs its record to 2-5 on the young campaign.

ETSU will compete against both Gardner-Webb and Morehead State during the two-day event that will begin on Saturday, Feb. 19 and will end on Sunday, Feb. 20.
STATESBORO, Ga. (Feb. 13, 2022) – The wait is over for the Bucs and Head Coach Belinda Hendrix! ETSU secured its first win of the season in day three of the Bash in the Boro in Statesboro, Ga., defeating Binghamton by the final score of 8-3. The Bucs then turned around to square off against Georgia Southern, a contest that resulted in a 4-0 shutout for the Eagles.
STATESBORO, Ga. (Feb. 12, 2022) – The ETSU Softball squad dropped a pair of neutral-site contests on Saturday in the second day of the Bash in the Boro event in Statesboro, Ga. The Bucs yielded a 9-3 defeat to Radford before closing the day out with a 9-1 loss against Binghamton. With the pair of losses, ETSU drops to 0-3 on the young season.
STATESBORO, Ga. (Feb. 11, 2022) – The Belinda Hendrix era began on Friday afternoon in Statesboro, Ga. as ETSU Softball squared off against Radford in the season opener. However, the Bucs will have to wait another day for the first win in the new era after dropping a 9-5 decision to the Highlanders in the Bash in the Boro Tournament hosted by Georgia Southern.
STATESBORO, Ga. (Feb. 10, 2022) – The Belinda Hendrix era has begun! ETSU Softball is set to square off in the Bash in the Boro in Statesboro, Ga. to kick start the 2022 campaign. The season-opening tournament will run from Friday, Feb. 11 – Sunday, Feb. 13 and will feature five games for the Buccaneers.

The Bucs were slated to finish seventh among the standings, while a pair of Bucs earned spots on the preseason All-SoCon teams.

ETSU’s two representatives to earn the honor were Dr. Natalie Smith and Jeff Shell.
The East Tennessee State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced a new partnership with INFLCR (pronounced influencer) to provide ETSU student-athletes the best platform to assist them in their name, image and likeness (NIL) experience. Using tools provided by INFLCR, ETSU student-athletes will learn the processes of maximizing their NIL potential, while maintaining NCAA compliance.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 1, 2021) – ETSU Softball Head Coach Belinda Hendrix has revealed the 2021 Winter Camp Dates for the Hendrix Softball Camp. The first annual camp will be held inside the ETSU Minidome beginning on Dec. 17 and running through Dec. 19.

ABINGDON, Va. (Aug. 16, 2021) -- ETSU Athletics, Food City and WJHL News Channel 11 are partnering to host the BUCS for Kids fundraising campaign in support of Niswonger Children’s Hospital. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday August 21, 2021 at Food City locations in Johnson City (S. Roan St., N State of Franklin Rd, and Boones Creek), Jonesborough, and Gray.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 16, 2021) – On Friday, July 16, East Tennessee State University Director of Athletics Scott Carter announced the hiring of Belinda Hendrix as the new head coach of the ETSU Softball program.

(July 15, 2021) – For the second consecutive day, the ETSU Athletic Department received recognition for its student-athletes, with the Southern Conference Honor Roll being announced on Thursday afternoon. The Bucs placed 249 student-athletes on the 2020-21 list, just shy of the program record 262 selections last year.
