JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2022) – Due to inclement weather making an appearance on Tuesday, ETSU Softball has officially postponed its single game against Gardner-Webb until Tuesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. The Bucs are now able to make up a previous midweek doubleheader that was rained out on March 16 when ETSU will travel to Boone, N.C. on Wednesday to square off with Appalachian State at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.

About the Bucs
ETSU (5-28) has three players batting over .300, led by Kelly Warren (Mechanicsville, Va.) with a .323 average on the season. The redshirt-senior has a team-high 32 hits as well as a team-best 22 stolen bases. Warren is six steals shy of tying Danielle Spetar (2005) for the most steals in a single season with 28. As a team, the Bucs have stolen 85 bases this season, 11 shy of passing the program record of 95 stolen bases in 2008. Cameron Young (Knoxville, Tenn.) is right behind Warren in hitting with a .322 average with 29 hits. Andrea Sarhatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) is batting .303 with 27 base knocks and 10 RBIs.
Meeting the Mountaineers
Appalachian State is 19-14 this spring, including 3-2 when playing at home. The Mountaineers are coming off a series win over Georgia Southern, despite dropping the finale on Sunday by the final of 11-8. Kayt Houston is hitting a team-high .386 this year with nine home runs and 28 RBIs. As a team, the Mountaineers are consistent at the plate with a .274 average to go along with 31 long balls and 160 runs batted in. Appalachian State’s two premier pitchers have sub-2.00 ERAs, led by Sejal Neas (Johnson City native) with a 1.88 ERA and a 4-1 overall record. Taylor Nichols is 4-3 on the season with a 1.99 ERA.
Series History
ETSU is 24-17 all-time against the Mountaineers with much of that success coming early in program history. The Bucs have won just two of the last 11 meetings against Appalachian State. ETSU is an even 9-9 all-time when taking on the Mountaineers in Boone.
