The first action of the game happened in the top of the second inning as ETSU recorded three singles, but were unable to push any runs across the plate. With one out and runners on first and second, Dunn singled to center but Riley Nayadley (Ooltewah, Tenn.) was thrown out at home as she tried to score from second on the play.
After leaving two more runners stranded in the third inning, the Bucs finally broke open in the fourth to go ahead, 3-0. Adams led off the frame with a single and Odom advanced her with a single of her own. With a runner in scoring position, Dunn smashed a ball down the left field line to score both runners. Dunn, who advanced to third on the double, later scored on an error by Campbell’s first baseman.
In the bottom half of the inning, Campbell exploded for six runs on seven hits to take a 6-3 lead. After three singles, the Fighting Camels scored their first run via off a sacrifice fly and scored again on the next at-bat with an RBI single. Campbell took the lead for good on a two-run scoring single up the middle by Lindsey Hunt, while Claudia Ware and Tyra Parker wrapped up the scoring plays with a double to right-center and a single down the left field line.
The Fighting Camels tacked on a solo run in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to secure the six-run victory.
