Bucs will play their first midweek game of the campaign  

RADFORD, Va. (Feb 20, 2023) – The ETSU softball team will play its first midweek game of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 21 as the Bucs take on Radford in a double header beginning at 2 p.m. Playing their eighth and ninth consecutive game on the road, it will be the first of a two-part series with another matchup scheduled for later in the year.

ABOUT THE BUCS

• The Bucs are 0-7 entering the matchup, playing all their games away from home.
• Sara Muir (Sequatchie, Tenn.) leads the team with eight hits, driving in six runs while posting a .421 batting average in 19 at bats for the Blue & Gold, while adding a pair of homers.
• Brianna Bailey (Wewahitchka, Fla.) leads all ETSU pitchers with 13.1 innings pitched, striking out 11 batters in the process.
• ETSU has led in six of the seven games played this season. 

ABOUT RADFORD

• Radford enters the game with a 2-3 overall record, defeating Bryant 7-4 on Sunday, Feb. 19.
• Tuesday afternoon will be the home opener for Radford, as they played all five games in Statesboro, Ga. last weekend.
• Laura Thompson leads Radford in hits with eight, while averaging a team-best .471 batting average with 17 at bats.
• Ellen Palya has allowed just one hit, but no runs, in 7.2 innings of work, while striking out four batters.

SERIES HISTORY

• Radford leads the all-time series 22-14 and are 7-4 at home against the Bucs.
• ETSU dropped the previous two matchups, 9-3 and 9-5, last season at the “Bash in the Boro” tournament hosted at Georgia Southern.
• Tuesday afternoon will be the first time the two teams meet in Radford since 2019 where the teams spilt a doubleheader.
