  • Entering the game in the top of the sixth, Brianna Bailey (Wewahitchka,Fla.) finished the game for the Bucs, allowing no hits while recording two strikeouts.

The visiting Mountaineers opened the game scoring a run after Kaley Coltrain singled her way onto first before scoring the game’s opening run on a pair of passed balls. After a scoreless second frame, Appalachian State scored again when Martin recorded an RBI double to take the 2-0 lead.

Answering back in the bottom half, Sanchez singled down the left-field line and stole her third base of the year. Michel recorded a single, in which Sanchez crossed the plate on a throwing error by the first basemen. Mimicking her teammate, Michel stole her seventh of the year and crossed the plate with the help of a passed ball and wild pitch.

In the top of the fifth, Appalachian State hit back-to-back singles then later loaded the bases before McCullen recorded a two-RBI double to put the Mountaineers up by two and scored on the next at bat with a sac fly by Thorpe. In the bottom of the frame, ETSU scored a run after Young recorded her third RBI of the year – all happening in the last three games.

After Dunn and Sanchez recorded singles to get on base, Michel grounded out, but not before adding a run as Dunn crossed home plate. Loading the bases after her second hit of the day and Sara Muir was hit by a pitch, the Bucs grounded out to close the game.
