Young earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 16, 2023) – Following the Buccaneers 2023 season, College Sports Communications (CSC) announced its 2022-23 Academic All-District awards for softball this afternoon, naming ETSU third baseman Cameron Young (Knoxville, Tenn.) to the list.

Young, who maintained a 3.9 GPA, receives the honor after earning a second team all-conference selection for the second consecutive season. This season, the sophomore hit .333 while producing a team-best 59 hits and 19 doubles. Making all 54 starts for ETSU, the Knoxville native batted in 20 runs and scored 24 herself. The accounting major recorded three-hit games on three separate occasions while having 17 multi-hit games.

The 2023 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four division – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 1.
