SoCon announces 100th Anniversary Teams

SPARTANBURG, S.C (Dec. 31, 2021) -- As the Southern Conference wraps up its celebration of its first 100 years of history as 2021 comes to a close, the league has named its 100th anniversary teams. The Bucs totaled 82 selections on the conference list, which was announced on Thursday.


Dr. Natalie Smith, Jeff Shell named to All-Southern Conference Faculty and Staff Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Dec. 21, 2021) -- The Southern Conference named its All-Southern Conference Faculty and Staff Team on Monday, with two representatives each from all 10 member schools being recognized by the league. ETSU’s two representatives to earn the honor were Dr. Natalie Smith and Jeff Shell.


ETSU Athletics announces partnership with INFLCR

The East Tennessee State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced a new partnership with INFLCR (pronounced influencer) to provide ETSU student-athletes the best platform to assist them in their name, image and likeness (NIL) experience. Using tools provided by INFLCR, ETSU student-athletes will learn the processes of maximizing their NIL potential, while maintaining NCAA compliance.


ETSU Falls in Straight Sets in Quarterfinal

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Nov. 19, 2021) – A pair of surprising upsets fueled the first three matches of the day in the 2021 SoCon Volleyball Tournament Quarterfinal round, but the #6 seed Bucs couldn’t continue the trend, falling to the #3 seed Bulldogs in straight sets (17-25, 9-25, 18-25). The Bucs season ends on a five-match losing streak.


Bucs Set To Clash with Bulldogs in Quarterfinal

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2021) – The time has come. The quest to earn the Southern Conference’s automatic qualifying bid to go to the NCAA Tournament begins tomorrow. The Bucs drew the #6 seed and will face the tournament-host Samford Bulldogs. Each team won their respective home game during the regular season.


Esposito, Vazquez, and Dykes Earn Conference Team Selections

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 18, 2021) – A trio of Buccaneers earned end-of-the-year awards as selected by the Southern Conference, the league announced Thursday afternoon. Sara Esposito (Pianiga, Venezie, Italy) garnered First-Team All SoCon honors, Josannah Vazquez (Mansfield, Texas) was awarded Second-Team All SoCon honors, and Caroline Dykes (Flower Mound, Texas) was named to the All-Freshman team.


Volleyball Adds Three Signees in Early Signing Period

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2021) – ETSU volleyball head coach Benavia Jenkins and her staff officially announced the signing of three student-athletes during the NCAA early signing period on Thursday.


Bucs Fall in Four Despite Career Night from Esposito

The senior posted 23 kills on senior night JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 12, 2021) – Momentum was building for the Bucs following a dominant third set, but the Terriers put away the Bucs (21-25, 22-25, 25-20, 24-26) in a highly-offensive fourth set to put themselves at either the #3 or #4 seed in next weekend’s conference tournament. Sara Esposito (Pianiga, Venezia, Italy) led the charge all night, posting 23 kills on .353 hitting on a whopping 51 attempts.


Bucs Wrap Up Regular Season Against Terriers

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 11, 2021) – After a heartbreaking five-set loss against the Mocs Tuesday night, the Bucs close out the regular season at home tomorrow night against the Wofford Terriers in Brooks Gym. Wofford has won the last three meetings, including a season sweep in the spring 2021 season.
