Volleyball falls to Virginia Tech 3-1

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech volleyball team defeated East Tennessee State University, 3-1, Tuesday night at Cassell Coliseum. Tech was led by sophomore Ana Lang's 16-kill, 20-dig performance. Game scores were 15-4, 15-13, 18-20, 15-10.

Also playing well for Tech were Sarah Rogers (Marietta, Ga.), Cheryl Stinson (Ottawa, Ontario), Christine Shubat (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) and Renee Collins (Shawnee, Kan.). Rogers had 12 kills and hit .407 for the match. The sophomore also had 15 digs and six total blocks. Stinson had 10 kills, 16 digs and five blocks while Shubat had 15 kills and six blocks. Collins had a team-high 34 assists.

ETSU (13-10) was led by Rachel Shifflett, who had a match-high 20 kills. Courtney Sussillo had 18 kills while Carey Cavanaugh handed out 51 assists.

With the win, Tech improves to 5-4 all-time in matches played on Halloween night.
