Johnson City, Tenn. (June 6, 2002) East Tennessee State volleyball head coach Deane Webb Thursday announced the signing of Katie Ralph (Port Orchard, Wash.) to a national letter of intent to play for the Bucs beginning in the 2002 season. Ralph starred as a middle blocker and outside hitter for three seasons at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Wash. Following her junior season, she was named first team all-league. Her senior season was her finest, as she was named league MVP, all-state and all-area by the Tacoma News Tribune. Ralph also was a member of the Puget Sound Volleyball Club for four seasons. Katie joins Meghan Connolly (Solon, Ohio), Kristi Robinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Renee Vesey (Paw Paw, Mich.) in a tremendous recruiting class for the 2002 season. "Katie is a very athletic middle hitter that has played in a high level club program," said Webb. "She plays with intensity, and has a real desire to improve. I am very excited about the contributions she will make to our program during this and future years, and I look forward to having her in the gym this Fall."
