Johnson City, Tenn. (Nov. 29, 2001) -- East Tennessee State head volleyball coach Deane Webb announced Wednesday the signing of two recruits that will join the Buccaneer program next season.
Kristi Robinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) is a versatile player that saw time at outside hitter, defensive specialist and setter at Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn. Robinson was a very decorated player for Farragut, having won team and district MVP last season and K.I.L. Player-of-the-Year. Robinson was a First-Team All-State Class AAA, and the Blue Chip No. 1 player in East Tennessee for kills and the No. 10 player in East Tennessee for assists. She played for the NKJV and Smoky Mountain Jrs. club teams.
Renee Vesey (Paw Paw, Mich.) is a setter from Paw Paw, Mich. Vesey played both volleyball and basketball for the Redskins. She has been a starter on the varsity volleyball team since her sophomore season. Renee was named team MVP and all-conference following both her sophomore and junior seasons. After those seasons, she was also named to the All-Courier Team, voted on by local sports reporters. Renee led the Redskins in assists and digs in both seasons as well. Vesey was named team captain for her senior season, which is going on currently.
Renee played guard and forward on the basketball team, leading the team to a 25-1 record last season and reaching the state quarterfinals. She was an All-Conference honorable mention last year. Vesey played for the USA Kalamazoo club team.
"I am very excited to have two great players committed to playing for ETSU next season," said coach Webb. "Both Renee and Kristi bring a nice combination of skill and athletic ability to our program that will allow our program to continue to improve and compete at a high level."
