Charleston, SC -- The College of Charleston volleyball team used 24 blocks, including 6 block assists by Tara Greene, to defeat East Tennessee State, 3-1, this afternoon at the John Kresse Arena.
After taking the first two games by scores of 30-13 and 30-24, the Cougars (26-2, 16-1) struggled in the third game as the Buccaneers (18-4, 13-4) had their best effort to take the third game 30-25 off of 19 kills. Charleston stepped up its game in the fourth to take the match with a close 30-25 win.
Stephanie Ballard paced the Cougars with her 13 kills, while Alisa Long followed closely with her 11 kills. Mary Sabatino added 17 digs to Tara Greene's 15. Carey Cavanaugh and Lissa Allen, of East Tennessee State, led their squad with 12 kills, while Amber Ciskowski led with 20 digs.
The win extends the Cougars' winning streak to 16 and keeps them undefeated at home with a 14-0 record.
The College of Charleston hosts The Citadel Tuesday in a 7:00 PM game for its final home game of the season while East Tennessee State travel to Appalachian State Nov. 6, for a 7:00 PM contest.
