Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State volleyball team is ranked eighth in the NCAA South Region rankings, released Tuesday.
Joining the Bucs in the rankings is fellow Southern Conference member College of Charleston (10th). ETSU has moved into a tie for first in the SoCon standings with Georgia Southern on the strength of a seven match winning streak. The Bucs are 10-1 on the season and 6-1 in conference.
The Bucs have yet to play Georgia Southern in the conference season. The Bucs defeated the Eagles, 3-2, in a tournament at Winthrop University to begin the year. That match, however, did not count as a SoCon match.
At the helm of the Bucs is first-year head coach Deane Webb. The Bucs are led by senior setter Carey Cavanaugh, who currently leads the conference in assists per game with 12.23. Sophomore outside hitter Lissa Allen is third in the conference with a .328 hitting percentage.
The Bucs host Davidson Friday night at 7 p.m. and UNC Greensboro Saturday evening at 5 p.m., both from Brooks Gym. ETSU is undefeated at home, currently with a 4-0 record in Johnson City.
