JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 20, 2007) - ETSU volleyball signee Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) was recently named to the PrepVolleyball.com All-America Team. It is the latest in a series of postseason honors for the Sullivan South senior.
As a senior, Cogburn led her team to its second consecutive state championship appearance, falling to Brentwood Academy in the finals. Cogburn earned All-District, All-Region and All-Conference team honors, as well as being named to the All-State Tournament team, and netting the AAA Player of the Year award. The setter led the Lady Rebels with 470 kills, 885 assists, 268 digs and 96 aces on the season.
Cogburn, along with Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.), Britany Loomis (Michigan City, Ind.), Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) and Laura Waddell (Lynchburg, Va.) were part of a five-player signing class for head coach Lindsey Devine. All five players will join the squad in the fall as the Lady Bucs begin defense of their 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship.
