Win streak at 15, Lady Bucs sweep past Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn.. (November 5, 2006) ­­­­- ETSU moved its school-record win streak to 15 matches Sunday afternoon, easily dispatching Milligan College in three games, 30-17, 30-23, 30-22.  The Lady Bucs have not lost a match in seven weeks, compiling a perfect Atlantic Sun Conference record along the way and winning 18 of their last 19 overall.

 

"We came out and executed well today," said head coach Lindsey Devine.  "We recognize how important these last few matches are in helping us fine tune for the conference tournament."

 

The Lady Bucs (24-5) were never threatened, closing out the opening game on a 17-6 run, blowing open what had been a close contest.  Senior Crystal Palmer (Chico, Calif.) paced ETSU with five kills, followed by three apiece from senior Jennifer Sartor (Toronto, Ontario) and Michelle Mislan (Indianapolis, Ind.)

 

Game two offered more of the same, as the Lady Buffaloes (13-20) battled for much of the frame, but gave way late surrendering a 10-4 game deciding run.  Junior Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the way with five kills and a .714 hitting percentage, followed by Sartor's four kills.

 

Five more kills from Palmer, four from Kiselich and three from Sartor helped culminate the sweep, as the Lady Bucs outhit Milligan .207-.074 in the final stanza. 

 

Palmer finished the day with a match high 12 kills, joined in double figures by Kiselich and Sartor with 11 and 10, respectively.  Junior Marissa Mortensen (Elk Grove, Ill.) directed the ETSU attack, distributing a match-high 31 assisits.

 

The Lady Bucs remain on the road for their next match, traveling to Lynchburg, Va. For a 7 p.m. tilt with Liberty on Tuesday, November 7.
