GREENSBORO, N.C. (October 10, 2006) - The upperclassmen led the way once again for ETSU, as four Lady Bucs accrued double-digit kill totals, and the Lady Bucs extended their season-high win streak to eight straight matches Tuesday evening with a four game victory over North Carolina A&T in the Corbett Sports Center. ETSU has also won 11 of its last 12, and has now assured itself of a second straight winning season for the first time since the 2000 and 2001 campaigns.
"It wasn't pretty once again, but it was another win on the road," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "Our blocking game continues to steadily improve, and continuing to win on the road like this certainly helps our preparation for conference matches."
The Lady Bucs (17-5) continued their recent trend of fast starts, hitting .205 in the opening game as they steadily pulled away after the midway point, never leading by less than three after taking a 15-11 lead, for a 30-26 victory. Junior Callie Kiselich (
ETSU continued applying pressure in game two, hitting .357, and rallying from an early four-point deficit to notch a 30-24 win and take a commanding 2-0 match lead. Kiselich again led the Lady Bucs, this time with five kills, followed by Sartor and senior Crystal Palmer (
Unfortunately, the Lady Bucs also continued their troubling trend of struggling after taking 2-0 leads, hitting just .059 in game three, and conceding an eight point setback to the Aggies at 30-22.
Game four marked a return to form however, as the Lady Bucs hit .333 and used an 8-1 run halfway through the frame en route to sealing the match, 30-21. Senior Sarah Buhr (
