CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Aug. 31, 2014) – Junior Ashleigh Shain (Geneva, Ill.) was one of six players named to the Charlotte Invitational All-Tournament Team, which was released by the tournament committee late Saturday night.
The Buccaneer defensive specialist played in all three matches for the Blue and Gold this past weekend, and totaled 11 digs and three service aces. In addition, Shain didn’t commit a service error in 26 attempts or a receiving error in 19 chances. Shain recorded a career-high three service aces against the host 49ers on Saturday, while also tallying eight digs.
“I was proud with Ashleigh’s performance this weekend,” said head coach Lindsey Devine. “She served tough and also did a great job defensively.”
Joining Shain on the all-tournament team were Morgan State’s Arianna Hayden, UNCG’s Jessica Brezwyn, Sacramento State’s Madeline Cannon, and Charlotte’s Britney Leigh Held. Held’s teammate Semen Sen was named the MVP of the tournament.
The Bucs return to action next weekend when ETSU heads to Fairfax, Va. for the Patriot Invitational. The Blue and Gold open the tournament against William and Mary on Friday at 3 p.m.
