SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 29, 2018) -- For the third consecutive year and fourth time in program history, the ETSU men’s athletics program was awarded the Southern Conference Commissioner’s Cup, which is the all-sport trophy that is presented to the conference’s best all-around men’s program.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 19, 2018) – Head coach Lindsey Devine announced on Thursday the signings of Alyssa Hatley (Rogersville, Tenn.), Adison Minor (Blountville, Tenn.), and Abbie Trantham (Candler, N.C.) to Letters of Commitment to join the program for the 2018-19 season.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 11, 2018) – The ESTU volleyball team put a wrap on the 2017 season, as seven Bucs were recognized with individual awards as voted on by the coaches.
For the second straight year, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will launch a special day of giving in support of Buccaneer student-athletes on Wednesday, April 11th.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 1, 2018) – Sophomore outside hitter Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend to attend an open tryout for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team. The tryouts take place March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC).
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Jan. 17, 2018) -- Forty-five ETSU student-athletes earned spots on the Fall 2017 Academic All-Southern Conference Team, as the league office announced the awards on Tuesday.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 1, 2017) -- After a tough fight, the ETSU volleyball team (19-12) fell to the No. 4 overall seed Kentucky (19-25, 20-25, 21-25) in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday night. ETSU gave Kentucky a hard fought battle and kept each set close.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 30, 2017) -- ETSU gears up to play No. 4 Kentucky, in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The match is set for Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and will be streamed on the WatchESPN app.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 26, 2017) Screams of excitement filled the ETSU Humphreys Center Sunday night as the NCAA announced that the Buccaneer volleyball team would travel to Kentucky for the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Nov. 19, 2017) -- After sweeping Wofford in three-sets (25-21, 25-12, 26-24), the ETSU volleyball team won the 2017 Southern Conference Volleyball Championship. Senior Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named the SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Nov. 18, 2017) -- After sweeping UNCG 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-22), the ETSU volleyball team advanced to the Southern Conference Championship match. A true team effort by the Bucs lifted them past UNCG.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Nov. 17, 2017) With 48 kills, 53 digs, and 11 blocks, the Bucs cruised past Western Carolina 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18) in the SoCon quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. ETSU improves to 17-11 and 13-4 against SoCon opponents.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Nov. 16, 2017) - After receiving the No. 2 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament, the Bucs are set to play No. 7 seed, Western Carolina tomorrow (Friday), Nov. 17. The SoCon Tournament is hosted by Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C. If the Bucs win, they will play the winner of UNCG and Chattanooga.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 14, 2017) – Three Buccaneers earned All-Southern Conference Volleyball Postseason awards as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the Libero of the Year and also the Rayna Taylor Freshman of the Year. Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) and Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) earned a spot on the All-SoCon First Team.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 12, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team earned the second seed in the Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament in Cullowhee, N.C, hosted by Western Carolina. The Bucs finished 16-11 and 12-4 in conference play.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 11, 2017) – After celebrating ETSU’s only senior, Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.), the Bucs took the floor for one last time inside Brooks Gym to conclude the regular season. She finished with six kills, ten digs, and 2 blocks in her final game in Brooks Gym. Despite the 3-0 loss (21-25, 16-25, 23-25), the Bucs will still earn a second place seed in the SoCon Tournament, which is set for next weekend, Nov. 17-19 in Cullowhee, N.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 10 2017) – A bond between an athlete and a coach is a unique experience like no other. Not everyone has that type of relationship like ETSU head coach Lindsey Devine and the lone senior on the ETSU volleyball team, Rylee Milhorn.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 10, 2017) – The Bucs will host Wofford for their regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 11 inside Brooks Gym. Prior to the 2:00 p.m. matchup, the ETSU volleyball program will honor their only senior, Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) who has devoted her four years to ETSU volleyball.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2017) – After an intense five-set battle earlier in the season against Chattanooga, ETSU came out firing to cruise past the Mocs in a three-set win (25-17, 25-18, 25-12) on Wednesday night inside Brooks Gym.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 7, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team will host Chattanooga on Wednesday, Nov. 8 inside Brooks Gym for their last mid-week conference match. They conclude the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11 when they host Wofford.
MACON, Ga. (Nov. 4, 2017) – The Bucs cruised to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-16) win against Mercer in their final regular season road match. This was ETSU’s fourth conference sweep of the season and sixth overall. ETSU moves to 11-3 in conference play after they out-blocked Mercer eight to five, finished with a team hitting percentage of .301 and had four service aces.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Nov. 3, 2017) – Coming off of an exciting win against Furman last weekend, the Bucs continued to build their momentum on the road after topping Samford 3-1 (25-18, 25-10, 26-28, 25-11) in Birmingham, Ala. on Friday night. The Bucs improved to 10-3 in conference play and as a team, finished with a .398 hitting percentage.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 2, 2017) – After earning back to back SoCon Defensive Player of the Week awards, freshman libero Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia), has been named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Month, for the month of October.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2017) – The Bucs will conclude the road portion of their regular season schedule. First they will travel to Samford, for a 8:00 p.m. matchup on Friday (Nov. 3) and then the next day (Nov. 4), they will take on Mercer at noon.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2017) –The ETSU volleyball team downed The Citadel in four sets, 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17) on Friday night inside Brooks Gym. Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2017) – Senior outside hitter Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) is currently one of 27 Division I volleyball players that have recorded 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. There are six players less than 100 digs away from joining this group of elite members.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 26, 2017) – After wrapping up a four-game road spree, ETSU finally returns home to host The Citadel on Friday and Furman on Saturday. It will be an intense battle between the Bucs and the Paladins as the first and second place teams in the conference face off.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (October 23 2017) – Freshman libero Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The rookie is ranked first in the conference in digs per set.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (October 22, 2017) –The Bucs fell to Western Carolina in five sets (15-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 15-17) at the Ramsey Arena in Cullowhee, N.C. Despite the loss, multiple Bucs achieved new season and career highs.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (October 20, 2017) – It was an intense battle between both teams at Fleming Gym in Greensboro, N.C. as the ETSU Bucs topped UNCG in a five-set match (25-19, 23-25, 25-16, 18-25, 18-16) to pick up their sixth straight win.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 19, 2017) – The Bucs will continue their longest SoCon road stint of the season as they travel to UNCG and Western Carolina this weekend. They will take on UNCG on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. and then will face Western Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2:00 p.m.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (October 16, 2017) – Junior middle blocker Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario) has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (October 13, 2017) – The Bucs picked up their fifth straight conference win with a 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-11, 25-17) win over Wofford on Friday night at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C. Junior AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) had 14 kills while finishing with a .393 hitting percentage. Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario) finished with six kills, a .462 hitting percentage and a new personal best of ten blocks.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 11, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team won an intense five-set battle over Chattanooga (18-25, 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 15-12) on Wednesday night at Maclellan Arena. As a team, the Bucs recorded 18 blocks as team, ten coming from sophomore Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.) who picked up a new career-high. Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) also recorded a new career-high of 32 digs.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 10, 2017) – After two back-to-back home wins, the Bucs look to continue that success as they begin a four-game road stint. ETSU has a 4-2 conference record as they are tied with Chattanooga and Wofford who they will take on this week.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 7, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team hosted Samford on Saturday night and picked up their fourth SoCon win of the season. The Bucs won 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 17-25, 25-9) inside Brooks Gym as Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) each tallied a double-double. Clayton had the team-high of 17 kills, while pitching in 11 digs.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 6, 2017) – ETSU cruised past Mercer 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-15) on Friday night inside Brooks Gym. Sophomore Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) picked up her first double-double of the season finishing with 12 kills and ten digs. As a team, the Bucs out blocked Mercer 7-1 and finished with a .366 hitting percentage. Throughout the night, ETSU only committed five attack errors and produced six service aces.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 5, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team will host two back-to-back home games as part of the homecoming festivities this weekend. On Friday, Oct. 6 they will play Mercer and on Saturday, Oct. 7 they will take on Samford. Both matches are scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (September 30, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team swept The Citadel Bulldogs 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon at the McAlister Field House in Charleston, S.C.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 28, 2017) – Through a tight battle in each set, the Bucs dropped a 3-0 match (17-25, 22-25, 23-25) to Furman on Saturday night at Alley Gymnasium in Greenville, S.C.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 28, 2017) – After returning home for two matches to begin conference play, the Bucs are back out on the road and headed to South Carolina. Up first is Furman on Friday. Following their match, the Bucs will then head to The Citadel to round out the weekend.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 22, 2017) – It was a back and forth battle between both teams, but ETSU fell to UNCG in four sets (22-25, 25-18, 24-26, 20-25) on Friday evening in Brooks Gym. Junior middle blocker (Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario) recorded a new career-high of ten kills in tonight’s match. Tutton was on fire throughout the game placing the ball well and hitting it where UNCG was unable to control.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 21, 2017) – The Bucs host Southern Conference opponent UNCG on Friday night inside Brooks Gym. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. as both the number one and number two preseason coaches’ poll teams will face off for the first time this season. Friday’s match will be streamed on the SoCon digital network.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 19, 2017) – It was truly a great day for the ETSU volleyball team as they won 3-1 (26-24, 25-21. 23-25, 25-21) against SoCon opponent Western Carolina to open up conference play on Tuesday night. Prior to the game, Hailey Aguilar (Chicago, Ill.), Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) and Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) were honored on behalf of their 1,000 career milestone achievements. With the win, head coach Lindsey Devine picked up her 250th career win.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 18, 2017) – After a long and tough preseason, the Bucs will finally return home to host Western Carolina in their home opener. This will also be the beginning of the 16 regular season Southern Conference games. Prior to the match, ETSU will honor the three Bucs who have reached their 1,000 career milestones.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (September 16, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team swept ACC opponent Virginia Tech in three sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-14) at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. This is the second time this season the Bucs have swept an opponent in three sets.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (September 16, 2017) – It was an exciting day for the ETSU volleyball team as three players reached career milestones in Friday’s match against Radford.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (September 15, 2017) – After winning the first two sets, the Bucs fell to Radford (25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 17-25, 12-15) in five-sets at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. Senior outside hitter Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded her third double-double of the season. Milhorn’s 24 kills has set a new personal best. She last had a career-high of 23 kills back in 2015 against Western Carolina.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 14, 2017) – The Bucs will wrap up tournament play this weekend at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. hosted by Virginia Tech. ETSU will only play two opponents; Radford and Virginia Tech.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 12, 2017) – Senior outside hitter Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. She registered 44 kills and 32 digs with one double-double in three matches for the Bucs.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (September 10, 2017) – Senior outside hitter Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) has been named to the Holiday Inn-University Plaza All-Tournament Team as announced by Western Kentucky.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (September 9, 2017)–The Bucs played their last match against Pittsburgh at the Holiday Inn-University Plaza preseason tournament. ETSU played their fifth, fourth-set match of the season in a 3-1 (19-25, 23-22, 21-25, 25-16) loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday evening.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (September 9, 2017) –The ETSU volleyball team put up a great fight in battling back to win a five-set match (24-26, 26-28, 25-19, 26-24, 15-11) over Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon at Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. After dropping the first two sets by just two points both times, the Bucs never let down and continued to push through the win. It was truly a team effort for the Bucs to come back and win from behind.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (September 8, 2017) – ETSU faced a top ranked opponent on Friday afternoon at the E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. Western Kentucky was ranked 24 in the nation last week. Through four sets, the Bucs fell to Western Kentucky (21-25, 25-21, 19-25, 13-25). AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) and Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) paced the Bucs with 15 kills each. They both finished the match with a .333 hitting percentage as well.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 7, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team will continue to play on the road in Bowling Green, Ky. at the Holiday Inn-University Plaza Invitational this weekend. They are scheduled to play host Western Kentucky, Saint Louis, and Pittsburgh. All three opponents have not met in recent years and have not met frequently in previous years.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 6 2017) – Senior outside hitter Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Volleyball Player of the Week (TSWA).
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 5, 2017) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday a new service available through the Buccaneers’ athletic communications office, as the Buc Photo Store will provide fans with an opportunity to own their favorite ETSU athletic moments.
BOONE, N.C. (September 3, 2017) – AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) and Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) were named to the Appalachian Invitational All-Tournament team on Sunday morning. As a team, the Bucs finished in second place with an overall record of 2-1.
BOONE, N.C. (September 2, 2017) – After two back to back wins to begin the Appalachian Invitational, the Bucs faced first-time opponent, Towson. The Bucs grabbed the first set, but ultimately fell to Towson 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 24-26, 20-15). Junior right side hitter AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) paced the Bucs with 17 kills throughout the match.
BOONE, N.C. (September 2, 2017) – The Bucs paced through a four-set win over the Mountaineers 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-17) on Saturday afternoon. After losing the first set, the Bucs powered through three sets in a row to capture their second win of the season.
Boone, N.C. (September 1, 2017) – After coming off a weekend of playing top ranked opponents, the Bucs took what they learned and applied it to their game against Virginia at the Appalachian State Invitational on Friday evening.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 31, 2017) – The Bucs get back on the road to travel to Boone, N.C. for the Appalachian State Invitational. Once again ETSU will face three opponents in the span of two days. They are scheduled to play Virginia, Appalachian State, and Towson.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 31, 2017) – Junior setter Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) has been named to the LUV Invite All-Tournament Team. After playing in all three matches against Lipscomb, Arizona, and Wichita State, Kvarta put up some impressive numbers.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 26, 2017) – ETSU volleyball played topped ranked teams throughout the weekend at the LUV Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. The Bucs first took on No. 24 ranked Arizona. After pushing four sets, the Bucs lost 3-1 (26-24, 19-25, 23-25, and 20-25). Later in the evening, the Bucs faced Wichita State and fell 3-0 (17-25, 16-25, 21-25).
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 25, 2017) – Despite a .417 hitting percentage by AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.), the Bucs dropped their first match of the season to Lipscomb 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25017) at the LUV Invitational on Friday night. Lux finished with six kills and only had just one attacking error.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 24, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team will officially begin their 2017 season as they head to Nashville, Tenn. for the LUV Invitational Preseason Tournament.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 22, 2017) – ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland announced Tuesday a transition plan for the leadership of the Buccaneers’ Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, as former ETSU football standout and current Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer Scott Carter will assume the role of director of intercollegiate athletics in September.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 19, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team kicked off the start of the 2017 season with a 3-2 win over Charlotte for a preseason scrimmage in Brooks Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs took the first set (25-23), the third set (25-20), and the fifth set (15-12) to win an intense battle over the 49ers.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 18, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team will host the Charlotte 49ers to kick off their 2017 season. The scrimmage is set for this Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Brooks Gym.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (August 17, 2017) – The ETSU volleyball team was picked to finish first in the 2017 preseason awards as announced by the Southern Conference on Thursday. The defending regular season champions received seven first-place votes and 63 points to claim the preseason honor under the leadership of the reigning 2016 SoCon Coach of the Year, Lindsey Devine.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 16, 2017) – Senior outside hitter Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) is currently experiencing her last volleyball preseason as a Buccaneer. She will take the court in just two days for the team’s first scrimmage against Charlotte on Saturday, August 9.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 25, 2017) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Monday that ETSU was one of 822 teams that have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 season. This number has set an all-time record for the AVCA.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 6, 2017) – The Southern Conference released its 2016-17 academic honor roll on Thursday, and ETSU placed 193 student-athletes on the list. In total, a league-record 2,100 student-athletes from the 10 member institutions and 13 associate members earned the distinction.
