SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Dec. 6, 2018) – Senior middle blocker Mariah McPartland (Boone, Iowa) has been named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Month for the month of November, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. This is McPartland’s first career monthly honor.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 4, 2018) – Junior outside hitter Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Southeast All-Region team.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 30, 2018) – After a tremendous and historical season, the ETSU Buccaneers (28-7) fell to the Purdue Boilermakers (24-8) on Friday night inside Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 29, 2018) – ETSU gears up to play Purdue in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The match is set for Friday, Nov. 30 at 5:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN3.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 25, 2018) -- The ETSU volleyball team is officially dancing in December. Following a historic regular season, the Bucs (28-6, 15-1 SoCon) took a sigh of relief Sunday night as they learned their fate as one of 32 at-large teams entered into the 64-team NCAA Division 1 Women’s Volleyball Championship tournament.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 18, 2018) – Making their second SoCon Championship appearance in the last two years, the ETSU volleyball team (28-6) fell to the Samford Bulldogs (19-14) on Sunday afternoon inside Fleming Gym.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 17, 2018) – The Bucs (28-5) advance to their second straight championship match after defeating No. 4 Mercer (16-13) on Saturday afternoon inside Fleming Gymnasium. This will be ETSU’s seventh championship final appearance, as the Bucs look to defend their 2017 title.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 16, 2018) – In the SoCon tournament quarterfinals, the Bucs (27-5) downed No. 9 The Citadel (12-19) on Friday afternoon in Fleming Gym 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-22). ETSU earned their 17th sweep of the season, as head coach Lindsey Devine picked up her 27th win in a single season, which is now her career-high and second in program history.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 15, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team heads to Greensboro, N.C. in the quest of defending their 2017 SoCon Tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bucs earned the No. 1 seed after claiming the 2018 regular season title. ETSU will face the winner of the No. 8 seed Western Carolina and the No. 9 seed The Citadel on Friday, Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 14, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team was well represented for the SoCon volleyball postseason awards, as the Southern Conference released its annual accolades Wednesday afternoon. Junior outside hitter Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) was named the Player of the Year for the 2018 season. Sophomore Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) repeated as the Libero of the Year and head coach Lindsey Devine was named Coach of the Year.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 10, 2018) – The Buccaneer volleyball team (26-5, 15-1 SoCon) ended the regular season on a high note downing Mercer (15-12, 8-8 SoCon) 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-16) on senior day inside Brooks Gym.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team (25-5, 14-1 SoCon) earned their 15th sweep of the season and their 12th straight conference win after downing The Citadel (10-18, 4-12 SoCon) 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-17) on Friday night inside Brooks Gym. Prior to the match, ETSU Director of Athletics Scott Carter presented the Bucs their 2018 Regular Season Champion trophy.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2018) – After capturing the 2018 regular season title, the ETSU volleyball team returns to Brooks Gym to cap off the regular season, with matches against The Citadel and Mercer. ETSU’s five seniors will also play their last matches inside Brooks, as they will be honored before Saturday’s match against Mercer at 2:00 p.m.
Leadership is a quality that senior AJ Lux was born with. She’s been a two-time captain for the Buccaneers’ volleyball team. Her favorite part about being a captain is that she’s able to be a leader at all times.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Nov. 2, 2018) –ETSU (23-5, 12-1 SoCon) defeated the Furman Paladins (10-14, 6-7 SoCon) 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 26-24, 25-23) on Friday night inside Alley Gym. ETSU has now won their last 12 conference matches.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2018) – The Bucs conclude their last two road matches of the regular season this weekend in South Carolina. First ETSU takes on Furman on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. and then will play Wofford on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4:00 p.m. Both games will have live stats and will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 31, 2018) – To conclude the month of October action, the Bucs finished on a high note after sweeping their fifth opponent of the month and their 13th of the season. ETSU (22-5, 11-1 SoCon) defeated the UNCG Spartans (11-15, 5-9 SoCon) 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-22) on Wednesday night.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2018) – The Bucs return to Brooks Gym to host UNCG on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a costume contest and candy handed out following the match. Wednesday’s match will be streamed on ESPN3.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 29, 2018) – ETSU swept the SoCon weekly awards for the second time this volleyball season. Junior Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.) was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, while Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 27, 2018) – After being down two sets to none, the ETSU volleyball team (21-5, 10-1, SoCon) made one of their biggest comebacks of the year to defeat Samford (13-13, 8-4 SoCon) in five sets inside the Peta Hanna Center on Saturday night. This marks Samford’s first conference loss on their home court and both teams are 1-1 against each other during the regular season.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team (20-5, 9-1, SoCon) defeated the Chattanooga Mocs (8-16, 4-7, SoCon) 3-1 (25-15, 30-32, 25-21, 25-22) on Friday night inside Maclellan Gymnasium. ETSU’s defensive efforts propelled them to their win, as the Bucs recorded a new season high in both blocks and digs.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 25, 2018) – After enjoying one of their longest breaks of the season, the Buccaneer volleyball team returns to action this weekend on the road. ETSU will take on Chattanooga on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. and then will travel to Samford on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8:00 p.m. (ET).
Many college athletes experience a growth in performance and character between their junior and senior seasons, but the growth for senior Mariah McPartland is not your average progression.
With a 7-0 deficit in the fifth set against one of ETSU volleyball’s most prominent rivals in Tennessee staring her team in the face, ETSU’s senior setter Alyssa Kvarta gave ETSU one of its most memorable moments of all time.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team (19-5, 8-1 SoCon) returned to Brooks Gym to begin the second half of conference play. The Bucs defeated the Catamounts (10-10, 4-5 SoCon) in three sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) to earn their 12th sweep of the season.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2018) – After earning two SoCon road wins, the Bucs return to Brooks Gym for a mid-week matchup against Western Carolina on Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow’s match officially begins the second half of conference play.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Oct. 13, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team (18-5, 7-1 SoCon) earned their second SoCon road win of the weekend after defeating The Citadel Bulldogs (8-11, 3-5 SoCon) 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) on Saturday night inside the McAlister Field House.
MACON, Ga. (Oct. 12, 2018) – With their third SoCon road game, the Bucs (17-5, 6-1 SoCon) earned their sixth conference win of the season after defeating the Mercer Bears (9-10, 2-6 SoCon) 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24) on Friday night in Macon, Ga.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2018) – The Bucs hit the road for two SoCon matches this weekend. ETSU will take on Mercer on Friday, Oct. 12 at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to Charleston, S.C. on Saturday, Oct. 13 to take on The Citadel at 6:00 p.m.
Over a thousand miles separates the Great White North from the Blue Ridge Mountains…but ETSU volleyball’s Braedyn Tutton had no problem finding her second home in Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team (16-5) fell to the High Point Panthers (10-8) on Tuesday evening inside Brooks Gym. The Bucs concluded action against non-conference opponents and finished with an 11-4 record. The remaining portion of their schedule will finish with Southern Conference opponents.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team concludes a three-match homestand on Tuesday when they host High Point in their last non-conference match of the season. Tuesday’s match will be a Pink Out game, as ETSU volleyball is dedicating their matches in October to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (Oct. 1, 2018) – Senior AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate volleyball. Lux is a student-athlete who excels both on and off the court.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2018) – After a heartbreaking loss last night, the Bucs bounced back (13-4, 2-1 SoCon) to defeat Chattanooga (6-11, 2-2 SoCon) 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) to earn their eighth sweep of the season.

(Sept. 28, 2018) – It was ETSU’s (12-4, 1-1 SoCon) longest match of the season, as Samford (8-9, 3-0 SoCon) would complete their comeback to win 3-2 (27-25, 25-20, 34-36, 23-25, 23-25) on Friday night inside Brooks Gym. Prior to the match, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics honored senior setter Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) for reaching 2,000 career-assists, which she recorded in the Bucs’ win over WCU last week.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team is back home this weekend, as they host two SoCon opponents in Brooks Gym. They will welcome Samford Friday, Sept. 28 at 6:00 p.m. and Chattanooga on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2:00 p.m. Saturday’s match will also be a white out.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 25, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team is off to a hot start this year with wins over Clemson, Tennessee, Duke, and No. 22 Washington State. The Bucs currently hold a 12-3 record and are 1-0 in Southern Conference action.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Sept. 19, 2018) – On the opening night of conference action, the ETSU volleyball team (12-3, 1-0 SoCon) swept Western Carolina (6-6, 0-1 SoCon) 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-1) on Wednesday evening inside the Ramsey Center.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Sept 18, 2018) – After a long and exciting preseason, the Bucs will kick off Southern Conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Western Carolina. This will begin the fight for the Bucs to defend their 2017 Southern Conference tournament title.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Sept 15, 2018) – Senior middle blocker Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario) was named to the WKU All-Tournament Team. The Bucs went 2-1 at the WKU Tournament to finish with a sweep over NIU and a thrilling 3-2 win over No. 22 Washington State.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Sept. 15, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team concluded their preseason with a bang knocking off No. 22 Washington State 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13). ETSU handed the Cougars their first loss of the season to finish the preseason with an 11-3 record.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2018) – On day one of the WKU Tournament, the Bucs fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-22) to Western Kentucky, but swept Northern Illinois 3-0 (25-18, 34-32, 25-15).
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Sept. 13, 2018) – The Bucs conclude their last preseason tournament when they travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for the WKU Tournament. They will take on the host Western Kentucky, Northern Illinois, and No. 22 Washington State.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2018) – After three road matches, the Bucs returned home to Brooks Gym and swept their fifth opponent of the year. ETSU (9-2) hosted Appalachian State (6-4) to remain undefeated at home in their three-set win (25-11, 25-15, 25-20). ETSU as a team had 10 blocks and finished with a .357 hitting percentage.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 10, 2018) – Senior setter Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) has been named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2018) – The Bucs (8-2) will host rival Appalachian State (6-3) in a mountain matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gym. The team and staff will be wearing red, white, and blue tie-dyed shirts and will take a moment of silence to remember those who were affected by the tragic events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.
DURHAM, N.C. (Sept. 8, 2018) – ETSU (8-2) topped Duke (6-3) 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-15, 27-25) on Saturday afternoon at the Duke Invitational. Senior captains AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) and Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) were named to the Duke Invitational All-Tournament Team.
DURHAM, N.C. (Sept. 7, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team played in their third preseason tournament today. They defeated Coastal Carolina 3-1 (14-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-18), but fell to Cincinnati 3-2 (18-25, 28-26, 25-15, 18-25, 14-16) to split on day one of the Duke Invitational. The Bucs won six straight matches before falling to Cincinnati who defeated #25 Colorado State and Florida State earlier in the season.
DURHAM, N.C. (Sept. 6, 2018) – After an exciting home opener, the Bucs hit the road for another preseason tournament. They will take on Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati, and Duke throughout the course of two days.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 4, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team (6-1) downed the Tennessee Vols (6-1) in a five-set thriller on Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 2,016 fans inside Brooks Gym. Alyssa Kvarta’s 9-0 serve run in the fifth set after being down 7-0, propelled the Bucs back to win 3-2 (21-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-19, 15-12).
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 3, 2018) – The 2018 home opener for the ETSU volleyball team is one day away, as the Bucs welcome Tennessee inside Brooks Gym Tuesday night. Admission is free.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 1, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team had a perfect weekend at the Bruiser Showcase this weekend, downing Tulsa, UMBC, and Belmont. The Bucs didn’t drop a set, as today’s 3-0 (26-24, 25-11, 25-17) win over Belmont (0-8) improved ETSU’s overall record to 5-1.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team swept both Tulsa (25-17, 25-21, 25-13) and UMBC (27-25, 25-16, 25-17) on day one of the Bruiser Showcase to improve their record to 4-1.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 30, 2018) – The Bucs will get back on the road to travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the Bruiser Showcase, hosted by Belmont. Once again ETSU will face three opponents in the span of two days. They are scheduled to play Tulsa, UMBC, and Belmont.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Aug. 25, 2018) – The Buccaneer volleyball team took on Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday afternoon at the Gamecock Invitational. ETSU swept the Islanders 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-23) to finish 2-1 on opening weekend.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Aug. 24, 2018) – The ESTU volleyball team (1-1) opened the 2018 season with matches against Clemson (1-1) and South Carolina (2-0) at the Gamecock Invitational. ETSU split their matches winning 3-1 against Clemson, but falling 3-0 to South Carolina.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Aug. 23, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team will officially begin their 2018 season as they head to Columbia, S.C. for the Gamecock Invitational. The Bucs will face three opponents; Clemson, South Carolina, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Aug. 18, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team opened up the 2018 season with an exhibition match at USC Upstate. This is the second year in a row that teams have been able to schedule a scrimmage without it impacting their overall record. In their first outing of season, ETSU swept USP Upstate in three sets (26-24, 25-22, 25-19).
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Aug. 16, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team was picked to finish second in the 2018 preseason awards, as announced by the Southern Conference on Thursday. The defending SoCon champs received three first place votes and 57 points to claim the preseason honor under the leadership of head coach Lindsey Devine.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 2, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team released its 2018 schedule on Thursday that highlights 31 regular season matches, four preseason tournaments, five new opponents and 11 home dates. The 2018 schedule also features SEC opponent Tennessee coming to Brooks Gym on Sept. 4.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 16, 2018) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Monday, that ETSU was one of 973 teams that have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 season. The number breaks the previous year’s total of 835 to set an all-time high.
