SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 14, 2019) – ETSU’s middle blocker, Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.) has been named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the SoCon office announced Monday afternoon. This is the fourth conference honor of her career.
Last weekend, Massey totaled 27 kills on 63 swings with just eight errors for a .302 overall hitting percentage between ETSU’s two matches. The Brentwood, Tenn. native was strong defensively at the net tallying a season-best nine blocks on Friday night and adding five more on Saturday.
On Friday, in the Bucs’ four-set win over The Citadel, Massey recorded 11 kills on 23 swings with no errors for a match-best .478 attack clip.
This is Massey’s second conference honor this season after being awarded SoCon Offensive Player of the Week earlier this year. It is her fourth overall accolade from the conference after being awarded defensive player of the week in 2016 and the offensive award last season.
Massey currently sits second in the SoCon with a .330 attack clip this season.
The Bucs are off to a strong 6-0 in conference play and are back on the court on Wednesday to face the Western Carolina Catamounts who are also 6-0 in the SoCon.
