JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 15, 2020) — ETSU volleyball head coach Benavia Jenkins announced on Friday morning the addition of Sanne Maring (Groningen, The Netherlands) and Sydney Allen (Gaffney, S.C.) to join the program next fall.
Maring is a 6’2” middle blocker and a transfer from Hoftra University who redshirted during her sophomore season. In her freshman and junior years, Maring totaled a .297 hitting percentage with 241 kills in 180 sets. The incoming senior recorded 184 blocks and 12 solo blocks in her stint with the Pride.
“We are excited to announce the addition Sanne Maring to our team,” said Head Coach Benavia Jenkins. “As transfer from a successful program, she brings experience and a level of competitiveness to the gym.”
Allen is a transfer Libero/DS from Converse College where she averaged 5.14 digs/set in her freshman season and 3.97 digs/set in her sophomore year campaign. In her two seasons at Converse, Allen tallied 32 service aces and 156 assists. She holds two of the top three spots all time in the Valkryies’ history for digs in a single match with 39 and 38 respectively. Additionally, in 2018 Allen was a recipient of the Division II Athletics Directors Association Award.
“Sydney’s biggest strength is her instincts for the game, she has a nose for the ball,” said Jenkins. “She will be a good addition to our serve receive and will make a difference in our defense. I know that she will give her very best every time she walks into the gym!”
