Volleyball Adds Three Signees in Early Signing Period

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2021) – ETSU volleyball head coach Benavia Jenkins and her staff officially announced the signing of three student-athletes during the NCAA early signing period on Thursday.

The Bucs signed 5-foot-11 outside hitter Brianna Cantrell (Appleton, Wis.), 6-foot-2 right-side hitter Kimani Johnson (Detroit, Mich.) and 6-foot-2 middle blocker Whitley Rammel (Fort Recovery, Ohio).

  • Ranked the #2 2022 recruit in the state of Wisconsin by Prep Dig
  • First Team AVCA High-School All American
  • 2020 State Champs, 2021 State Runner Up
  • 3x First Team All-State
  • 3x WVCA All-State Team
  • 2x First Team All-Conference
  • Honor Roll all four years of high school. Carries a 3.8 GPA

Cantrell On Coming to ETSU…

“I am extremely excited to continue my next chapter in life at ETSU, and continue to play volleyball somewhere I can grow and love,” said Cantrell.

  • Named to the AVCA Phenom list twice
  • 2019 recipient of All-City Volleyball Team

  • JVA Watch List for c/o 2022
  • Club team came 2nd at Nationals in 2021
  • Accepted invitations to the Fall and Winter USA National Team Development Program

Johnson On Coming to ETSU…

 “During Covid, trying to find a school that was a good match for me was a struggle. However, the moment I first visited ETSU, I felt at home like it was the perfect match for me. After college, I look forward to playing volleyball,” said Johnson.

About Whitley Rammel

  • Multi-sport athlete at Fort Recovery High School – lettered in volleyball, basketball, and track and field.
  • Three-time first team All-Midwest Athletic Conference
  • Ranked the #7 2022 recruit in the state of Ohio by Prep Dig
  • Second Team All-Ohio her senior year
  • Two-time third team all-Ohio (sophomore and junior year)
  • First Team All-District her senior year
  • Broke the shot-put school record her junior year
  • Member of the National Honor Society. Carries a 3.78 GPA

Rammel On Coming to ETSU…

 “I’m excited for the opportunity this university will give me and I’m excited for the next four years and where it will lead me in life,” said Rammel.
