Johnson City, Tenn. -- The Furman Lady Paladins used a 15-5 run to close out the game to defeat the East Tennessee State Lady Bucs, 68-64 Monday night from Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C.
ETSU led Furman from the 18:46 mark of the first half to the 9:16 mark of the second half, when a 13-4 Lady Paladin run gave Furman a 47-44 advantage. The Lady Bucs than came back and regained the lead with 7:16 on the clock after two free throws by Lauren Trantham. The Bucs extended their lead to six at 59-53 until Furman went on their run to close the game.
The Lady Bucs, who fell to sixth seed in the Southern Conference, were led by senior guard Chris Forman's 22 point performance, while Trantham also added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Lady Bucs (7-20, 7-11) will next face UNC Greensboro at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 2 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain Dew Southern Conference Tournament from Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C.
